Erik ten Hag pays tribute to two Manchester United stars as well as ‘unstoppable’ Marcus Rashford

Erik ten Hag called Marcus Rashford ‘unstoppable’ at his post-match press conference after Manchester United beat Everton.

Rashford will dominate the headlines again after two assists and a goal, and most of the questions after the game were about the England forward.

But as per the club website, Ten Hag was keen to point out the movement of Anthony Martial and Antony, who opened the scoring within four minutes of his return to the team.

Alejandro Garnacho also made an impact after coming off the bench for Martial, so while United may lack attacking depth, the forwards we do have are looking good right now.

Ten Hag said of Antony’s goal: “I think it was a great goal, but of course great action from Marcus Rashford on the left side, we don’t often reward the movement from players.

“Also with Anthony Martial today, a lot of good movements, he makes space for other players on the pitch and that was also [the case] with the movement of Antony.

“With the first goal he was in the right spot, but it was great movement to be there.”

On Rashford he said: “Great performance. He showed the movement, belief and conviction. He was a threat for Everton across 90 minutes. He has fantastic skills.

“He can work on his weaker foot and his heading. Marcus is doing well, but the team is doing well to get him in the position to use his strengths. Then he is unstoppable, with his speed, skills and directness.”

We all want to see Rashford keep this form going and he could fire United to a trophy if he maintains it until the end of the season.

Perhaps United will bring in a new forward this month to share some of the burden and the likes of Martial and Antony will also be important in ensuring too much onus does not fall on Rashford.
