Erik ten Hag has more faith in Omari Forson over Facundo Pellistri.
Manchester United Football Club are still figuring things out in regard to the squad and playing personnel.
Erik ten Hag has allowed several footballers to leave on loan this January, largely due to the fact we have fewer games to play in the second half of the season.
One player who is imminently set to depart is Facundo Pellistri. Eyebrows were raised due to the fact that the man from Uruguay has played some meaningful minutes this season. He will go out on loan.
Now, the Daily Mail have provided a snippet of information as to why. According to their Chris Wheeler, it’s stated that Omari Forson is rated higher, despite the fact his contract is winding down.
Ten Hag apparently feels Forson, who came off the subs bench on Sunday, has a ‘brighter future’ than his Uruguayan counterpart.
I cannot help but feel that this is a play in an effort to try and persuade Pellistri to sign a new contract at the Theatre of Dreams.
Forson looked good in pre-season. Do not get me wrong. Though I just don’t think he’s ready. That said, I also don’t believe Pellistri is ever going to be good enough, so there’s no wrong choice here.
The young man Forson has some big decisions to make over the next few months. If he’s dripfed first-team minutes until the end of June, it may well result in a new contract being signed here in Manchester.
In an ideal world, Forson would also go out on loan. For my money, he has to be starting games with regularity and that’s just not happening right now.
