Donny van de Beek’s agent sends Manchester United message after latest snub

Donny van de Beek’s agent has claimed that he is ‘happy’ after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has clarified that the midfielder will be ‘important’ for Manchester United this season.

Man United signed the Dutchman from Ajax last summer but Solskjaer’s options in the midfield have dashed VDB’s chances of becoming a regular at Old Trafford.

Though he has the likes of Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes ahead of him at AM and Fred and Scott McTominay ahead of him at DM, the 24-year-old managed 19 league appearances last season.

Van de Beek impressed as United thrashed Everton 4-0 at Old Trafford in pre-season, seven days before Manchester United trounced Leeds United 5-1 in their opening game of the season. A game, which Van de Beek did not take part in.

Last weekend, Man United were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw at Southampton in the league. While United were searching for the match-winning goal, Solskjaer snubbed VDB for Jesse Lingard as his last substitute. The Norwegian had earlier brought in Jadon Sancho and Scott McTominay.

After the game, Solskjaer claimed that bringing in van de Beek wouldn’t have made any difference to his team but maintained that the Dutchman is in his plans.

Donny van de Beek’s agent sends Manchester United message after latest snub Ole Gunnar Solskjar says of Donny van de Beek: ‘What could we have done differently?

‘I thought Nemanja [Matic] was excellent, Antho [Martial] was close to scoring a goal but Jadon [Sancho] and Donny will be important for us.’

Van de Beek’s agent Guido Albers told De Telegraaf that he is happy after the Manchester United boss has publicly claimed the midfielder will get more playing time this term.

Guido Albers reacts to Solskjaer’s comments: ‘Everyone within the club knows that Donny cannot have another season like last year.

‘In preparation, clarity would be provided about his role. The fans had already embraced him before, but the most important thing is that the coach [Solskajer] has now provided clarity in the English press.

‘We are happy with that. And I assume that Donny will play a lot in one of the positions in midfield in the coming period.’

What’s next for Donny van de Beek and Manchester United? Man United will face Wolves this weekend in the league, knowing that anything other than a defeat will make them the first team to go 28 games unbeaten at away in Premier League history.

It would also be another chance for Solskjaer to hand Van de Beek his first appearance for United his season. Also, to bounce back to winning ways after last weekend’s blip.

He is an immense fan of the club since 2005. Miracle wonders where Man United would have ranked in the Premier League history if Sir Alex Ferguson wasn’t given enough time to rebuild the team.
