VfB Stuttgart director of sport Fabian Wohlgemuth has ruled out a summer move for Manchester United target Angelo Stiller.
The Red Devils have seriously lacked midfield energy despite the signing of Manuel Ugarte last summer.
Injuries to Kobbie Mainoo and Mason Mount have meant that Ruben Amorim has had to rely on an older profile of player such as Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro and Christian Eriksen in the middle of the park.
Therefore, it is only logical that the Portuguese coach will intend to strengthen this area of the pitch in the summer.
One name that was recently thrown into the mix is German international Stiller who plies his trade at Stuttgart.
According to Scoutingstats.ai, “Angelo Stiller’s emergence as one of the Bundesliga’s most promising young defensive midfielders has been underscored by his exceptional ball retention and progressive passing abilities, both of which rank him among the league’s elite.”
He has also become a vital member of Die Roten’s first team as the 23 year old has already played in 37 matches this season.
Wohlgemuth put paid to these ambitions though after speaking to German publication BILD.
When asked about the possibility of the young German leaving the club he bluntly stated, “that is not an issue that is currently on our agenda.”
The president then went on to explain that Stiller has a long-term deal at the club and that a transfer is off the table.
“The player has committed himself to VfB under a contract without any ifs and buts and we know very well what we have in Angelo. And that is the matter closed.”
Nonetheless, the paper claims that the ex-Bayern Munich player may find it difficult to turn down his former club, especially if Joshua Kimmich leaves in the summer.
