Manchester United’s victory over Leeds United was made so much better by the packed crowd at Old Trafford.
After the 6-2 victory over Leeds last season, an enthusiastic Ole Gunnar Solskjaer told the club website: “Just imagine if that had 75,000 people here, it would have gone down in history as one of the better Man United performances against Leeds here at home.”
Today, it was a case of mission complete. In front of 75,000 plus fans, United put Leeds to the sword again, winning by a four-goal margin.
United won 5-1, with supporters going wild for each and every goal scored.
Another former United striker was impressed too. Dimitar Berbatov posted on social media commenting on how great it was to see supporters back celebrating at Old Trafford.
Berbatov illustrated his post with a shot of Mason Greenwood celebrating United’s second goal.
Greenwood’s goal was arguably the pick of the bunch, and it was one of four goals assisted by Paul Pogba.
United’s next two fixtures are away from home, against Southampton and then Wolves, before the team return to Old Trafford against Newcastle United after the international break.
