Former Bulgaria forward Dimitar Berbatov has warned Manchester United against signing Danny Ings as he believes the forward isn’t the player they need at the moment.
Man United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer declared on Tuesday night that the Red Devils are still interested in signing a centre forward in the summer despite the renewal of Edinson Cavani’s contract.
As such, the likes of Erling Haaland and Harry Kane are linked with moves to Old Trafford in a bid to fire Manchester United back to their glorious days.
This week, reports emerged that United are also looking at signing Southampton forward Danny Ings and the speculation did not go down well with Manchester United fans, including Dimitar Berbatov, who claims the signing of Ings from the Saints ‘doesn’t make sense’ to him.
‘I see that Man United have been linked with Southampton and England striker Danny Ings, he is a good player and I really rate him but I don’t think he is what United need at the moment,’ Berbatov told Betfair.
Dimitar Berbatov urges Manchester United to drop Danny Ings pursuit ‘The club have pretty much everything they need in the striking department at the moment, lots of experience and pace.
‘Edinson Cavani keeps scoring, proving his worth and proving how good a decision it was to give him a contract extension, he scored an unbelievable goal the other day.
‘So, with all this in mind going for Danny Ings makes no sense to me.’
The 28-year-old forward has scored 12 goals in 28 Premier League matches for Southampton this season.
