Derby debacle has changed United’s mind on this “incredible” ace, they want to loan him out in the summer – report

Manchester United attempted 13 shots as compared to Manchester City’s nine yet could not make their advantage count as Sunday’s Manchester derby ended in a stalemate.

Out of those 13 shots, United’s striker Rasmus Hojlund mustered a grand total of zero shots as he once again put in a disappointing display.

Unfortunately this has become a running theme for the Dane and while many will point to a lack of service and the 22-year-old being overburdened, the truth is he is simply not ready to lead the line for a club of United’s size.

The club’s transfer activity has not helped him and ideally he should have been backup for a prolific and experienced forward but instead, Ruben Amorim has had to rely on him in every game almost.

Rasmus’ future

And the head coach is not convinced and given the lack of time on his hands, he wants the ex-Atalanta starlet out in the summer.

But the 20-time English league champions paid an initial £64 million to sign the Denmark international and while INEOS will try and sell him, the reality is they will struggle to find a buyer at that price given the No 9’s form.

Which is why, as per Givemesport, the three-time European champions could be open to loaning out Hojlund as they look to make room for a new strike to come in during the summer window.

“GMS sources have been informed that Manchester United will go into the summer transfer window with a willingness to sell Hojlund, having seen him struggle to make a telling impact in the goalless draw against Manchester City last weekend, but they may face difficulties when it comes to trying to find a viable destination.

Loan exit on the cards

“GMS sources have been told that Manchester United are prepared to look at loan proposals for Hojlund if none of his admirers are in a position to splash the cash as his temporary exit would make room for another centre forward to come in as a direct replacement as they look to build a squad capable of challenging for regular honours.”

The loan move could also potentially help the Red Devils elevate the “incredible” star’s market value with Hojlund’s current value tanking in recent months. It was €65 million when he joined and now it is only €45 million as per Transfermarkt.

United have seen great success with this ploy with Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood and Antony in the recent past.

As for replacements, Victor Osimhen seems to be the priority at the moment with secret meetings between Napoli and United taking place while a first proposal has also been tabled by the Old Trafford side.
