Dan Ashworth reportedly admires teenage midfielder ahead of potentially taking Manchester United job

Dan Ashworth has an interest in signing FC Nordsjaelland talent Mario Dorgeles as he seemingly prepares for work at Manchester United.

News of Dan Ashworth’s expected move to Manchester United has been thin on the ground in recent weeks.

United want Ashworth and, fortunately, Ashworth wants United too.

Newcastle United have placed their sporting director on gardening leave, seemingly paving the way for a move to Old Trafford.

Compensation is the hold-up though with Newcastle standing firm and demanding a considerable eight-figure deal

It’s more than three weeks since Sir Jim Ratcliffe suggested that Newcastle’s stance was a ‘bit silly’, leaving Ashworth’s arrival in a rather confusing state.

Ashworth may have some targets in mind though for whenever he does end up at United.

The London Evening Standard now claim that Ashworth is a big fan of Nordsjaelland midfielder Mario Dorgeles.

Ashworth is understood to ‘admire’ Dorgeles and may well bring that interest to Old Trafford.

Newcastle United – Ashworth’s current club – are named as being interested alongside Premier League rivals Arsenal and Chelsea.

Brighton and Hove Albion, Monaco, Lille, Lyon and Marseille are also keen with the Nordsjaelland talent attracting plenty of suitors ahead of the summer transfer window.

Who is Mario Dorgeles?

Dorgeles hails from the Ivory Coast but is yet another product of the Right to Dream academy in Ghana.

Right to Dream have a partnership with Danish side Nordsjaelland, and that link has been hugely beneficial for all.

The likes of Kamaldeen Sulemana, Simon Adingra, Mohammed Kudus and Ernest Nuamah have all landed big moves off the back of joining Nordsjaelland from the Right to Dream academy.

Dorgeles could be next and he has shown promise this season but he has been in and out of the Nordsjaelland side.

The 19-year-old has only played 28 minutes of league action in 2024 and would certainly be one for the future if Ashworth were to bring him to Old Trafford.
