Cristiano Ronaldo has had his say after Portugal were held to a 0-0 draw with Ireland.
Ronaldo was unable to add to his 115 international goals and repeat his heroics from the previous win over Ireland.
The Manchester United star had a header go inches wide of the post in the second half, before his injury time effort from a tight angle was saved by Gavin Bazunu.
Ronaldo said after the game that it is ‘always difficult’ to play in Ireland, a sign of respect towards his opponents.
Portugal set up for crucial game
Ronaldo is motivated for a huge game on Sunday as Portugal take on Serbia.
Both teams are level on points and the winner will qualify automatically for the World Cup, and the runners-up most negotiate the play-offs.
Ronaldo’s Portugal have home advantage and just need a draw to proceed.
A win against Ireland would have put Portugal in the same situation, still needing either a win or a draw against Serbia, so the result was a bit of a non-event where they were concerned.
Bruno Fernandes played and was substituted after 70 minutes after a quiet game, while Diogo Dalot played 90 minutes at left-back.
Ronaldo shows kind heart
Ronaldo was approached by a pitch invader after the game, which seems quite common nowadays where he is concerned.
This time it was a young girl, and Ronaldo showed his kind side, giving her his shirt, and a memory she will never forget.
