Confirmed United XI vs Hong Kong: Kamason, Kukonki and Lacey given chance to shine alongside senior stars

Only five regular first team stars make the Manchester United starting line-up for today’s post-season friendly against Hong Kong.

Jonny Evans, Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes, Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund are tasked with leading a young side through the opening stages of the game.

Tom Heaton, another experienced player, is in goal.

Evans, who will leave the club after this game, plays alongside Tyler Fredricson and Godwill Kukonki in defence.

The exciting Jaydan Kamason and Harry Amass are the wing backs.

Casemiro will be the holding midfielder, with another prodigy, Shea Lacey joining Fernandes, Garnacho and Hojlund in the more advanced roles.

As on Wednesday, head coach Ruben Amorim is expected to use his whole squad during the course of the game.

The only player not to take part in that game was Altay Bayindir. The fact he hasn’t been named in today’s starting XI will raise some eyebrows and potentially lead to speculation that he might be on his way out of Old Trafford.

Andre Onana, Harry Maguire and Diogo Dalot were seconded to appear in India this week so they were not expected to take part.

Joining Bayindir on the bench, therefore, are Dan Armer, Patrick Dorgu, Aynden Heaven, Reece Munro, Sekou Kone, Toby Collyer, Tyler Fletcher, Kobbie Mainoo, Jack Moorhouse, Mason Mount, Jim Thwaites, Manuel Ugarte, Amad and Chido Obi.

Mount returns after missing the match against Asean All Stars on Wednesday.

Kick off in Hong Kong is at 1pm BST.
