The Australian Meteorological Agency has warned the people of Lord Howe Island, 87 miles east of mainland Australia, during tsunamis ( (tsunami) following a major earthquake off the island states of Vanuatu and New Caledonia in the Pacific Ocean today.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that that the quake was 7.5 magnitude but further measurements revealed that the quake was 7.7 magnitude.
