Our confirmed MUFC XI for the Carabao Cup home game vs Newcastle United is now in.
Perhaps Manchester United’s best trophy hope this season is in the Carabao Cup. Erik ten Hag will be keen for his side to defend their trophy, though it will not be easy, make no mistake about it.
Newcastle United visit Old Trafford this evening, with a place in the final eight at stake. No doubt the Magpies have revenge on the mind, following the Reds’ Carabao Cup final victory over Eddie Howe’s side back in February.
For the Red Devils, it’s about striking that balance between rotation and playing a strong side against an opponent of real quality. A win here should be more important than anything else, though.
Anyway, the team news is now in and the gaffer has made seven changes from Sunday’s Manchester derby. It’ll certainly be interesting to see how some of these lads get on…

Andre Onana does keep his place in between the sticks, with the man from Cameroon not included in any rotation.
Diogo Dalot does play at right-back again here, with the ex-Porto man looking to put in a better display than on derby day. Over on the left-hand side, Sergio Reguilon does start. Harry Maguire retains his place in the line-up, with Victor Lindelof partnering the Englishman. Raphael Varane is not in the squad.
Casemiro is back and feeling better after an injury he picked up while away with Brazil. Let’s hope he’s feeling as close to 100% as possible. Mason Mount deservedly plays, with the Three Lions player now hoping for a real run in the team. Hannibal completes an energetic midfield trio.
Anthony Martial plays as the lone striker, with Alejandro Garnacho and Antony on his left and right respectively.
Come on you Reds!
