The confirmed MUFC XI for their Carabao Cup tie vs Charlton Athletic is now in…

Manchester United have a real opportunity to get themselves into a cup semi-final this evening, with a home game against Charlton Athletic in the offing.

The League One side shouldn’t be underestimated, with Charlton making it this far on merit. Erik ten Hag will be wary of the threat possessed by the team he’s going toe-to-toe with this evening.

That said, you’d expect that any United line-up should have more than enough firepower and quality to get this job done. Matches aren’t played on paper, though, so the Red Devils will have to go out there and put in a performance worthy of a spot in the final four.

Anyway, the confirmed team news is now in, with the gaffer springing one or two surprises for this encounter.

Check out our confirmed MUFC XI for the game vs Charlton in full here:

Tom Heaton makes a rare start in between the sticks, with the Englishman doing enough to beat out Jack Butland for the start.

Diogo Dalot does play in that right-back position as he begins to get some minutes under his belt after injury. Tyrell Malacia gets the nod over on the left-hand side of defence. Harry Maguire starts and captains United, alongside World Cup winner, Lisandro Martinez.

Casemiro has been rested for this one, with Scott McTominay and Fred being reunited at the heart of the midfield. Kobbie Mainoo gets an opportunity to impress everyone here. This young man can play.

Anthony Elanga looks like he could be the starting striker in this one. To his right and left respectively is Antony and Alejandro Garnacho. This is a front three filled with youthful exuberance. Let’s hope they can get the job done.
