Granada have revived their interest in signing Facundo Pellistri on loan this month.
Erik ten Hag’s side made hard work of it on Sunday against Newport County, though Manchester United did progress into the FA Cup fifth round.
Perhaps the biggest shock during the game was the fact that both Amad and Facundo Pellistri remained rooted to the bench. It was quite the eye-opener, as this felt like their best chance at earning first-team minutes this season.
It’s no surprise then, that the rumours linking Pellistri with a loan move away are now starting to resurface.
It’s the Manchester Evening News with the story, who state that one club have revived loan interest in the United player.
The MEN also state that the starlet was ‘concerned’ about staying at United for the rest of the season, as progress over a move to La Liga side Granada had stalled. However, the 19th-placed La Liga team have now reignited their interest.
Pellistri is one of just six forwards available until at least April, due to the fact that Anthony Martial is out of action with a groin problem.
You’d have thought that the Newport game would have been the ideal time to give Pellistri some meaningful minutes. Instead, he sat rooted to the bench while Antony continued to reaffirm our concerns about the man from Brazil.
At this point, you worry about Pellistri’s United career. If not now, when? There’s an argument to be made that the club should try and sell the young man permanently, as he’s just not getting the minutes here.
A loan move to Granada will provide the winger with the first-team chances that he’s craving. Let’s hope he can do well.
