Club ‘pushing’ to sign 22yo Man United star before Tuesday’s transfer deadline, sides ‘in talks’: report

Borussia Dortmund are trying to sign Man United full-back, Diogo Dalot.

Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot remains somewhat a mystery. The talent is so obviously there, though we’ve rarely seen that on the football field.

The Portuguese, who was signed by Jose Mourinho, spent last season on loan with AC Milan where he looked pretty decent. As of right now, he’s back at Old Trafford playing second-fiddle to Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

That said, there’s still a possibility that Dalot plays his football elsewhere in 2021/22 as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer doesn’t give off the vibe that he’s fully convinced by what the defender has to offer.

Well, Solskjaer’s temptation to cash in on Dalot could’ve edged even closer if the latest scoop by Sky Sports News’ Kaveh Solhekol is anything to go by…

Apparently, Borussia Dortmund are ‘pushing’ to complete a deal to sign the 22-year-old United star before Tuesday’s sideline. The side is ‘in talks’ to make a move for Dalot happen.

It’s claimed that the transfer would initially be a loan, with an option to buy next summer.

First and foremost, I’m always wary when it comes to these loan with options to buy, rather than obligations. It means that United could be back in the same situation next summer.

If United are to let Dalot go, it has to be on a permanent basis because that way, they know where they stand rather than worrying about fixing this issue in twelve months’ time.

For me, this feels a little bit too late. United are giving off the impression that no further signings will be made, so I’d be surprised if the club can sanction a Dalot sale and sort out a replacement within the next few days.

The only thing I’d be interested in is a straight Dalot sale with Kieran Trippier signed as a replacement. Ed Woodward better act quickly, though…
