Club official confirms United are ready to sell star for £39m, Guardiola thinks he’s “exceptional” – report

Heading into the summer of 2025, Andre Onana was Manchester United’s first-choice goalkeeper. However, Ruben Amorim pushed Onana to the fringes of his team after being left unimpressed with the Cameroonian’s attitude and fitness issues.  Altay Bayındır started ahead of Onana in the opening stages of the Premier League. Onana’s place on the bench also became uncertain after United signed Senne Lammens on deadline day, which eventually forced the former Inter Milan star to look for a move away. The Champions League finalist, who is considered an “exceptional” ball-playing goalkeeper by Pep Guardiola, had a promising start to life in Turkey, but his form has tailed off alarmingly in recent weeks. This situation reportedly led head coach Fatih Tekke to hold a private meeting with the shot-stopper. Trabzonspor signed Onana without a purchase option or obligation, and it appears he is going to be United’s problem once again. In a recent interview, Trabzonspor vice-president Zeyyat Kafkas hinted that the Süper Lig club are not going to meet United’s asking price for their out-of-form goalkeeper. Manchester United slap significant price tag on Andre Onana According to Kafkas, United want €45-€50 million (£39-£43.4m) for Onana, who intends to continue in a major European league if he cannot find a new club in England. “As the figure from Manchester United for the purchase of Andre Onana is in the range of €45-50m, our president has sincerely informed the community in line with Trabzonspor’s realities,” he said (via Sport Witness). “I don’t think this information affected Onana at all. Because Onana’s thinking is that if it’s not England, he wants to continue at a club in Europe. His family thinks the same way. The president also wanted to explain Trabzonspor’s reality. However, if the conditions change, the situation changes.” The Trabzonspor star has kept four clean sheets from 22 matches in all competitions, a tally unlikely to attract a long list of suitors.
