Marseille have been in contact with Man United over potentially signing Mason Greenwood.

It now feels clear that there is no way back at Manchester United for Mason Greenwood. The Englishman enjoyed himself at Getafe last term by all accounts, though the Red Devils would prefer a clean break from the winger.

Simply put, there is too much water under the bridge for the 22-year-old to make a comeback to the Theatre of Dreams.

As you’d expect, his talent levels alone means there is plenty of interest in his signature. Over the last 24 hours, the Manchester Evening News have provided an update on Greenwood’s future.

They state that Ligue 1 club Marseille are the latest side to contact United about signing the out-of-favour star, with a £30m valuation placed on Greenwood.

The interest is described as serious, with former Brighton coach, Roberto de Zerbi, pushing for his signature.

Greenwood is also attracting interest from Juventus, Napoli, Valencia and Benfica. No doubt United are hoping a bidding war will follow, as that would increase the eventual transfer fee.

For the player himself, it’s good to hear that he’ll have plenty of choice available to him for his next career move. Obviously, I do not see a way back for him here in England. He’d get stick at every single away ground, heck, even the United crowd wouldn’t be thrilled about the prospect of having him back.

United have to secure a permanent transfer away for Greenwood sooner rather than later as the longer they leave it, the fee will reduce. There is absolutely no way he’s signing a new contract here in Manchester so I’d hope that a deal can be wrapped up quickly.

Do you think £30m would be a reasonable fee for Greenwood? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
