Club “confident” they will agree deal for £73m star with United after making “best proposal” – Fabrizio Romano

Manchester United are close to resolving Jadon Sancho’s future after a frustrating few years.

Sancho has been on the peripheral of the senior squad at Carrington since Erik ten Hag’s days.

United thought they got rid of him for good last summer after Chelsea agreed a loan deal with an obligation to buy. However, the Blues backed out of the agreement by paying a penalty fee.

Sancho has been linked with Juventus and Borussia Dortmund this summer, but both clubs have yet to approach United directly.

Roma trying to close Sancho deal

Now, AS Roma have shown great intent to secure Sancho’s services.

On Thursday, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming Roma have submitted a formal bid for the Englishman.

According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, the Giallorossi plan to finalise the signing of Sancho “in the coming hours.”

Roma are keen to sign both Sancho and Aston Villa winger Leon Bailey in their bid to revamp their attack for new boss Gian Piero Gasperini.

Sancho in talks with Roma

Meanwhile, early this morning, Fabrizio Romano also shared a positive update on Roma’s pursuit.

Romano reports that Roma are “confident to get green light” from the Premier League giants for the deal for the 25-year-old.

It is understood the Serie A outfit sent a “£20m loan with obligation bid” for the England international. Their offer is viewed as “the best proposal received” by United for their out-of-favour left winger so far.

Sancho’s representatives are now in direct talks with Roma to find a consensus over his contract terms.

The ex-Dortmund man, who joined United in a £73m deal in 2021, has entered the final year of his contract at Old Trafford.
