CL side confident they’ve turned the head of United record-breaker in a major blow to Carrick’s plans – report

Galatasaray harbour a dream of bringing Bruno Fernandes to Istanbul. As ambitious as that sounds, it is easy to see why the Turkish giants are willing to test their luck, given how transformative Fernandes proved to be last season. Record breaker The United skipper delivered one of his finest ever league campaigns. He rose to the occasion with quality performances capped by nine league goals and a staggering 21 assists, setting a new Premier League assist record in the process. His brilliance earned him a clean sweep of accolades: Premier League Player of the Season, FWA Footballer of the Year, and the Golden Playmaker award. With such influence, it is no surprise that top clubs would covet him. Yet, while most quickly realised that prising Fernandes away from M16 was near impossible, Galatasaray remain undeterred. Galatasaray confident in their pursuit The Turkish side still believe the move is feasible. Journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu explained on Haber Sarikmzi, as translated by Sport Witness: “I said ‘it’s a dream’ for Bruno Fernandes, but don’t take that negatively. Let me put it this way: they’re asking for €70–75 million in transfer fees. That’s the part where I said it was a dream. “If Galatasaray agree to pay that amount, Fernandes is open to coming to Türkiye. “I also confirmed this with Manchester United. They might be able to go a little below €75 million.” Selling Fernandes would be madness As pivotal as Fernandes is to United’s play, it is worrying that Galatasaray believe he is open to signing for them. What is even more frustrating is the notion that a player of his calibre, untouchable, if not priceless, has an asking price. Selling Fernandes would be nothing short of a transfer blunder.
