CL giants in talks with United to sign technically gifted star who is yet to feature under Carrick – report

Michael Carrick’s Manchester United delivered another brilliant attacking display, leaving league leaders Arsenal stunned at their home ground. Carrick has taken the brakes off United by playing Bryan Mbeumo centrally and pushing Bruno Fernandes further up the pitch, in his natural number ten position. However, Carrick’s tactical adjustment has relegated Benjamin Sesko to the bench and could further restrict Joshua Zirkzee’s playing time. The Dutchman has been absent from the interim manager’s first two matchday squads due to a muscular problem. Juventus enter race for Zirkzee Early in the January transfer window, AS Roma pushed for Zirkzee’s signature. Zirkzee is reportedly willing to leave United and return to Serie A this month in search of regular playing time ahead of the 2026 World Cup. However, United wanted to wait for Mbeumo and Amad Diallo to return from their Africa Cup of Nations duties before making a final decision on his future, forcing Roma to look elsewhere. Now, a report in Italy suggests Juventus are working to convince United to allow the 24-year-old to leave. Juventus in talks to sign Manchester United forward According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus have resumed talks with United for Zirkzee after growing frustrated with Youssef En-Nesyri. The Fenerbahce striker was their priority target, but he is unwilling to move to Turin. It is believed Juventus expected En-Nesyri to land in Italy on Sunday ahead of a medical. Their plan was to sign the former Sevilla man on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season. However, he is seeking a permanent transfer. With head coach Luciano Spalletti desperate for a new goalscorer, the Serie A giants are now looking to sign Zirkzee. They are also interested in Liverpool winger Federico Chiesa.
