Manchester United’s attempt to overhaul their midfield has suffered yet another setback, with Tottenham Hotspur reaching an agreement to sign Mateus Fernandes from West Ham United. United have already missed out on Elliot Anderson to Manchester City and with Fernandes also now out of the picture, the Red Devils face the possibility of heading into next season with an underwhelming midfield. The position could be weakened further if a Champions League club gets their way. Galatasaray preparing move for Bruno Fernandes According to Turkish outlet Fanatik (via Turkish Football), Galatasaray are looking to make a statement signing and have set their sights on Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, with talks planned with both the player and the club. Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk is already blessed with Victor Osimhen and is prioritising another marquee addition to reinforce his Super Lig-winning side ahead of the next Champions League campaign. It is understood that figures at the Istanbul giants plan to officially launch a bid for their target after the World Cup. Galatasaray are reportedly prepared to offer United a transfer fee in the region of €30m-€35m for arguably their best player. They also intend to offer the Portuguese maestro a contract worth €10m in net annual salary. However, it is suggested that Fernandes is reluctant to leave Old Trafford, as he looks set to lead Michael Carrick’s project next season. The 31-year-old is determined to do well with the Red Devils, who will also feature in next season’s Champions League. Furthermore, it is believed United have shown zero willingness to sell Fernandes. Even if the situation changes, Ineos would not entertain such the figures being mentioned for the Premier League’s best player. Manchester United linked with Victor Osimhen Meanwhile, United are thought to be among the admirers of Osimhen, who has quickly established himself as a fan favourite in Istanbul following his switch from Napoli. However, Galatasaray are determined to keep hold of their talisman and have accordingly placed a €150 million price tag on his head. United do want to add an experienced striker to their ranks this summer, but given the finances involved, they are very unlikely to consider making a move for Osimhen.
