It is “very likely” that the Chinese government committed genocide against the Uighurs, according to an expert on their affairs.
His newly published expert opinion in the UK states that there is evidence that The government has backed a plan to eradicate the Muslim minority in northwestern China, according to the BBC.
Among other things, attempts have been made to harm the Uighurs who have been detained, attempts have been made to prevent women from having children, including abortions, and children have been moved away by force.
The opinion also states that Xi Jinping, the President of China, is likely to be responsible for crimes against humanity. It states that “Xi Jinping’s close involvement in the execution against the Uighurs may support the prosecution of him for genocide.
