Chelsea dealt major injury blow ahead of Premier League return

The World Cup final is set to take place a week from Sunday, meaning the Premier League is now very close to a return. In preparation for this, most sides have begun to play friendly games for those players who did not go to the World Cup or for those who have already been knocked out.Chelsea are one such team and they are currently locked in action with Aston Villa in Abu Dhabi. The Blues are 1-0 down at the time of writing thanks to a John McGinn strike. To make matters worse, Graham Potter’s side have also suffered a huge injury blow.Armando Broja started the game up top vs Aston Villa but has been forced off in the first 45.And as per football.london, the striker was in serious pain when he went down and was stretchered off:“Screams of pain from Armando Broja after going down. He’s holding his knee. Hope that isn’t anywhere near as bad as it looks and sounds.”Should Broja’s injury indeed be as serious as it looks, the strike could miss a good chunk of the games left to play this season. This would leave the west Londoners with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as their only natural striker. And with the January transfer window just round the corner, perhaps Chelsea will be forced to dip into the market for a replacement.
