It’s that time of year again and we will discover the Champions League groups for the 2021/22 season this evening.
Both Manchester United and Manchester City are in the draw and they will be aiming to better their finishes in last season’s tournament.
For the Blues, that would mean winning Europe’s biggest prize for the first time in their history. Pep Guardiola’s side made it to the final last season but suffered heartbreak at the hands of Chelsea. They will be in pot 1 for the draw.
United didn’t have nearly as good a season in the Champions League and were eliminated in the group stages, with Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig advancing to the knockouts in their place. United are in pot 2 and, fortunately, can’t be drawn against Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund, Juventus, PSG, Real Madrid or Sevilla, who all join them there.
They could, however, be drawn against the side who defeated them in last year’s Europa League final, Villarreal, who are in pot 1.
The draw starts at 5pm and we’ll bring you all the developments and reactions right here.

United fans furious at Ronaldo to Man City transfer chanceThis would make the Champions League more interesting this season…
Manchester City are the frontrunners to sign Cristiano Ronaldo after it has emerged that he is seeking an exit away from Juventus this summer.
The Turin club signed Ronaldo to deliver their much anticipated third Champions League trophy after reaching two finals in the 2010s and being foiled by Barcelona and Real Madrid.
However, the ex- Manchester United great has not fully settled into life in Italy and spent periods of last season starting from the bench after falling out with coach Andrea Pirlo.
It now seems he is favoured to arrive back in Manchester with the blue half, having spent six years as a Red since signing from Sporting Lisbon in 2003.
