Carlos Balebas ex-Brighton teammate tells Carrick exactly what star will bring to Man United

Former Brighton & Hove Albion star James Milner has sparked further excitement among Manchester United fans after revealing what to expect from summer signing Carlos Baleba.

Debut looming

Baleba has yet to make his United debut, having sealed a big-money move to the club from Brighton.

United maintained their interest in Baleba after unsuccessfully trying to lure him from the Seagulls a year ago. He has yet to make his senior debut as he continues to recover from an ankle injury sustained during pre-season with his former employers.

The Cameroonian arrived at Old Trafford as the third midfield signing after the acquisitions of Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans from Chelsea and Aston Villa respectively.

Speaking to reporters ahead of United’s Carabao Cup third-round clash against Brighton on Wednesday, Michael Carrick divulged that Baleba will be fully fit and available for selection after the international break.

As United supporters patiently wait, Milner, who retired from professional football earlier this year, has told them exactly what Baleba brings to the table.

Milner’s Baleba claim

Milner said on The Good, The Bad & The Football podcast, “Yeah, I mean, he’s still very young. Physical qualities: outstanding.”

“He can burst forward with it, can dominate areas, but he’s still young and growing into that physicality to be able to do it for 90 minutes. Brighton’s one of the best places to be for young players to learn the trade.”

“At Brighton, the manager every year loses his best players and the young ones come in again, you’ve got to start again, but the amount of effort they put into the individual meetings the meetings for positions, time after training, one on one sessions, video sessions.”

“They are so good at developing those players, and obviously it’s a step up for Carlos, going to a club like Man United, size difference compared to Brighton, no disrespect to Brighton, obviously, like you say, amazing club, done incredible, the last 15 years or whatever their journey, amazing club.”

“But Man United’s a whole different ball game.”

After the international break, United will face Tottenham Hotspur on October 10.
