We have a draw!

10:10pm: The draw is expected to take place in the next few minutes.

Let us know who you want your team to face in the comments.

9:50pm: Arsenal are also heading into the third round.

Mikel Arteta has avoided another embarrassment by convincingly thrashing a youthful West Brom side 6-0.

Newcastle became the second Premier League side to be eliminated in the second round having been beaten on penalties by Burnley.

Neither top-flight team found the net in 90 minutes.

Southampton had an enjoyable night, though. The Saint stuck eight past Newport County.

9.30pm: Manchester City again enter this competition in the third round and have utterly dominated it under Pep Guardiola.

Their triumph over Tottenham at Wembley earlier this year was the fourth successive season in which they have lifted the League Cup.

Can they make it a fabulous five this season? Their squad depth certainly makes them most people’s favourites.

But the likes of West Ham and Leeds United are among the other Premier League clubs eager to win silverware and who will fancy their chances.

9.20pm: There’s seven Championship teams through to the third round with a further two from League Two in Rochdale and Oldham.

There are five League One representatives including Sunderland, with a possible Tyne-Wear derby showdown with Newcastle if they beat Burnley this evening.

The other game alongside West Brom vs Arsenal this evening is Newport County vs Southampton.

That means in total there could be 16 EFL teams in the next round if the Baggies beat Arsenal and the South Wales outfit get the better of the Saints.

It’s the first time in the 2021-22 season that all of the Premier League’s big boys are involved in a cup draw.

The seven teams playing European football in the Champions League, Europa League and Europa Conference League all enter this stage of the competition.

There’ll be 16 ties drawn out this evening with the draw getting underway at around 9.45pm after West Brom vs Arsenal, unless that match goes to penalties.
