Bruno Fernandes Seeks Improved Manchester United Deal

Bruno Fernandes wants a new deal with Manchester United but he aims to earn as much as other top earners like Marcus Rashford, Casemiro, and Jadon Sancho.

He also wants to know the plan of the coach and the club’s future goals before he makes up his mind on staying or leaving.

United are hesitant to lose Fernandes, also Sir Jim Ratcliffe, recognizes him as their best player.

However, the need to raise money this summer has reduced their wage bill to fund major signings and the club could see them change their stance if a significant offer is received.

Bruno’s agent, Miguel Pinho, is also talking to suitors, and he is hopeful Bayern Munich, and Barcelona, who have expressed an interest, will push through and make a deal. However, money is really tight at the Camp Nou as well.

In April, Fernandes got a new deal that pays him about £220,000 every week until 2026, and it might go on for one more year. But now, he feels he’s not getting enough and wants a top pay.

Rashford earns around £365,000 each week, a bit more than Casemiro, while Sancho takes home about £300,000 every week. As his 30th birthday nears in September, Fernandes feels this deal should be his biggest yet.

He is also looking for assurances regarding the club’s future trajectory and the status of manager Erik ten Hag. If it is possible, he also wants to know who ten Hag’s replacement will be.

Fernandes came to United in January 2020 and has won the Carabao Cup and FA Cup.

Yet, since Sir Alex Ferguson left in May 2013, United haven’t really chased the title hard. Their eighth spot finish last season was their worst ever in the English Premier League, and they will play in the Europa League next season.

But to be the competitive force that Fernandes craves, United will require a heavy investment.

Profitability and sustainability rules state that the club, in order to spend big in the transfer window, must sell players who offer a source of funds and will help reduce the wage bill.

Rashford, set to stay till 2028, holds huge worth, and United may think only about big bids for him.

Sancho, back with Borussia Dortmund on loan for the last half of the season, has a deal till 2026. He too, can bring in a lot of money.

Other players are likely to leave for lower fees. Casemiro and Harry Maguire, on £180,000 a week and one year left on his deal, respectively, will probably go for reduced prices.

The club looks at young talents, Alejandro Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo, as well as Rasmus Højlund as non- transferable. Due to his importance to the team, Lisandro Martínez is also highly unlikely to be sold.

In summary, Fernandes is after a better deal at Manchester United but can only get that if he is sure of the club’s future direction and managerial stability.
