Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes’ week is not off to a good start.
When Manchester United entered the March international break, it came amid an almighty high, a dramatic 4-3 win over Liverpool.
Now entering this first break of the 2024/25 season, Manchester United do so amid the negativity of a 3-0 loss the Liverpool.
It’s not a good way to start the week, and for Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, it has got a little worse.
Bruno Fernandes was due in Portugal as they begin preparation for their UEFA Nations League matches.
Unfortunately for him, Portugal were forced to hold their first training session without him.
Portuguese newspaper Record report Bruno Fernandes missed his connecting flight to Lisbon, and did not arrive in time to take part.
Teammate Diogo Dalot had no issues, he was pictured at the session in photos published via Sapo 24.
It does seem a little strange to us that Fernandes and Dalot did not travel from Manchester to Portugal together.
Fernandes did not miss too much. Portugal’s first session was a recovery session, made up of stretches and light gym work.
The Manchester United midfielder is expected for the second session, and it is good news to hear that he did not miss training due to an injury, and the reason was as simple as a missed flight.
Portugal fixtures set up well for Manchester United
Portugal are due to play two games, and Bruno Fernandes could get a near week’s rest before Manchester United’s next game.
- Portugal vs Croatia, Thursday September 5, 7.45pm
- Portugal vs Scotland, Sunday September 8, 7.45pm
Fernandes will then fly back to Manchester United, where he will get almost a whole week’s rest before taking on Southampton away, which is much better than Portugal having their second game in the middle of next week.
