100% tackles, 4 dribbles, 5 duels won, 4 recoveries: United star continues to raise the bar in another top display vs. Ipswich

Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee enjoyed another one of his better games for the club, as they beat Ipswich Town 3-2 at Old Trafford on Wednesday evening.

United got off to a horrible start, with Jaden Philogene capitalising on a calamitous mix-up between Patrick Dorgu and goalkeeper Andre Onana to tap home.

Sam Morsy’s own goal and a Matthijs de Ligt effort put United ahead, only for Dorgu to be handed a red card for a poor challenge on Omari Hutchinson. Things went from bad to worse for United as the visitors levelled soon after courtesy of Philogene, whose cross crept past Onana.

But Harry Maguire’s header almost immediately after the interval proved enough for Amorim to collect just his fifth league win in charge of the Red Devils.

A number of United players produced good performances including the two goalscorers, Bruno Fernandes and Leny Yoro.

Another who gave a good account of themselves was Zirkzee. The forward’s start to life at United has by no means been perfect but over the past few games, he has shown signs of improvement, especially thriving in the number 10 role, behind the striker.

Against Ipswich, Zirkzee impressed with some of his touches, close control of the ball, hold-up play and passing. His physicality also seems to have improved and he used his body well in a number of situations.

During the time he was on the pitch, the Netherlands international won 100% of his tackles and came out on top in five of the duels he contested.

He made four ball recoveries and embarked on four dribbles.

The 23-year-old also made one clearance and twice as many interceptions. He attempted one shot.

Joshua Zirkzee’s game by numbers vs. Ipswich:

5 duels won
4 ball recoveries
4 dribbles
2 interceptions
1 clearance
1 shot

It certainly wasn’t a masterclass but he is raising the bar every single week and on current trajectory, it’s only a matter of time until he fully explodes in a United shirt.

Amorim and his players are back in action on Sunday when they face Fulham in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

“It’s not their game”: Rio Ferdinand names four United stars who don’t suit Amorim after win vs. Ipswich

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has insisted that Joshua Zirkzee, Harry Maguire, Rasmus Hojlund and Matthijs de Ligt are not dynamic or athletic enough to slot into Ruben Amorim’s preferred style of play.

Ferdinand spoke on TNT Sports after United beat Ipswich Town 3-2 at Old Trafford on Wednesday evening.

The Red Devils started off terribly with Patrick Dorgu and Andre Onana getting involved in a calamitous mix-up which allowed Jaden Philogene to tap into an open goal.

Amorim’s men responded well, restoring parity as Sam Morsy turned in an excellent free-kick delivery from Bruno Fernandes. United would go on to take the lead courtesy of De Ligt, who scored from close range.

The game threatened to be turned sour for United after Dorgu was given his marching orders for a reckless tackle on Omari Hutchinson, only for Philogene to equalise just moments afterwards.

However, Maguire came up with the goods almost immediately after the break, heading in home Fernandes’ corner.

Despite being pleased with the result, Ferdinand admitted that the fans are yet to see what they expected when Amorim replaced Erik ten Hag in November last year.

Ferdinand said on TNT Sports, “‘I think if we’re being brutally honest, there hasn’t been the progress that we all anticipated.”

“Where he came from, how successful he had been and the silverware he brought to Sporting, the anticipation of him coming was like, ‘Wow! What an opportunity we’ve got now with this young manager’, and it hasn’t transferred here.”

“I sat with him the other day and you can see there’s a desire, there’s a work ethic behind the scenes and he’s nipping at everything to try and get this right and turn it around, but things haven’t been smooth for him and he hasn’t managed to get it to where he wants to at this point in time.”

Ferdinand added, “I think he needs to just get to the end of the season, really regroup and then start building again, building the team and coaching the team because right now they’ve been stuttering along and that’s probably being polite.”

“I watched Sporting a few times, in Europe especially. They were an athletic, dynamic team. That was one of the staples of that team, the hallmarks of that good team that was winning things.” He continued, “This team aren’t a mobile, dynamic team. If you look through the heartbeat of this team they have other qualities but being physical, having the ability to overrun teams physically – they don’t have that capacity.”

Asked whether Zirkzee is the type of player that suits Amorim, Ferdinand answered, “o… De Ligt, Maguire, Hojlund, it’s not their game. So I think he needs to find those type of players with the capabilities of carrying out not only tactically what he wants, but the physicality is equally important.”

During the match, Ferdinand and Robbie Savage also tore into Onana, blaming him for not communicating with Dorgu in the build-up to Philogene’s first strike.

Savage said on commentary [via Daily Mail], “Wow. Dorgu has tracked the run and the communication between Onana and Dorgu must be non-existent. Credit to Jaden Philogene, the desire… he’s onside. But I’ve got no idea why Onana is running out to that position. Dorgu has got it under control, no problem at all. He shouldn’t come there, Onana!”

“I might be completely wrong but stay. The defender has got it under control so stay in your six-yard box. Credit to Philogene. What a start from Ipswich.”

Savage went on, “The defender has got it under control. I don’t think there is a reason why Onana comes out there. You should be talking, lay it back to him on his right foot and then he can clear it. I don’t know why he’s come. The defender is in control… Onana, stay in your goal.”

Ferdinand was equally critical, further stating, “A terrible start. I don’t think Dorgu, at any moment, looks up to see where Onana is. Onana doesn’t need to come in. The full-back is in complete control and he can just hold his ground and let him play it back to him.”

“But Dorgu doesn’t look, the awareness isn’t there and it’s pounced on. Ipswich took a deserved lead for pouncing on that lack of communication.”

The result saw United climb up just one point, to 14th place in the Premier League table.

The Reds are back in action on Sunday when they welcome Fulham to Old Trafford in the fifth round of the FA Cup. Kick-off is at 16:30 GMT.

“I think we made some improvements”: United goalscorer’s honest admission after hard-fought Ipswich win will please fans

Manchester United ended a three-game losing streak at Old Trafford as they clinched all three points thanks to a 3-2 win over Ipswich Town on Wednesday.

The victory was made even more special by the fact that all three of United’s goals came from set-pieces, an aspect they have been notoriously bad at all season.

It was the visitors who took the lead and Patrick Dorgu was shown a straight red card in the 43rd minute but the 10 men of United still triumphed on the night.

Both goals came from Andre Onana howlers while the red card was harsh but it was always coming after the Red Devils’ reprieve against Everton last weekend.

Improvements for all to see

But with the scores tied at 2-2 heading into the break and with the Tractor Boys having a man advantage, not too many would have thought the 20-time English league champions could pull it off given their poor form this campaign.

But it was Harry Maguire who scored the winner while his centre-back partner Matthijs de Ligt netted the team’s second on the night.

And after the game the Dutchman was asked about the win and he admitted that there were improvements after a tough couple of weeks.

“I think it was a hard fought win,” De Ligt told MUTV (via MEN). “As you said, the second half with ten men, fighting, even scoring, it was a really good achievement.

“In general, I think we made some improvements compared to the last game.”

“It was a good game from us in the second half. I think in the first half we didn’t even play that bad, we just conceded two silly goals. Obviously, this can always happen in football.”

Amorim had finally got time to train with the team in the last two weeks and finally, it seems like the players are reaping the benefits and hopefully, we get to see more in the coming games.

Pundits have been having a pop at Ruben Amorim and the players for not understanding what each other want and hopefully, this win can be a turning point in the campaign.

Confidence high heading into FA Cup clash

Despite Dorgu’s three-game suspension, Leny Yoro’s form was a major positive as well as was the solid second-half showing despite playing with a man disadvantage.

The former Ajax star admitted that the win has given the team a major shot in the arm ahead of their FA Cup clash against Fulham on Sunday.

“Really important. This was a really important game for us. We know what situation we are in.

“If at half-time you are down to ten men and it’s 2-2, obviously it is going to be a really difficult second half, so I think it’s a really important win for us and hopefully we can continue against Fulham.”

The FA Cup represents a great chance for the team to secure silverware after what has been a terrible league campaign and hopefully the team displays the same fire at the weekend as they did under the lights tonight.

95% passing, most final third passes, 100% dribbles, 100% tackles won: United star smashed it out of the park vs Ipswich

Not many would have expected Manchester United to emerge victorious after going a man down against Ipswich Town on Wednesday especially given their recent Premier League form at Old Trafford.

But the Red Devils fought hard and despite going a man and a goal down, they clinched a 3-2 win against Kieran Mckenna’s side which should give a huge confidence boost to the team going forward.

While Patrick Dorgu’s red card and Andre Onana’s poor form will dominate discussions in the days to come, Ruben Amorim will be pleased with a couple of aspects.

Set-pieces have not been United’s forte this season but the team scored all three of their goals from set-pieces and the patterns during those goals showed that the players had rehearsed these moments and they played out just as practiced.

Great display from the backline

The head coach will be immensely pleased with the effort put in by the backline and while Matthijs de Ligt and Harry Maguire will rightly take home the plaudits for their goals, Leny Yoro put in an impressive shift as well.

Put in as the left-sided centre-back in Lisandro Martinez’s absence, Yoro was tasked with following what the Argentine was doing in games before his season-ending injury.

Lenny Yoro completed 13/14 final third passes against Ipswich, more than any other Man Utd player.

Surprising. 👏🇫🇷 pic.twitter.com/mA1ZpRWRHa

The World Cup winner regularly stepped into midfield before breaking lines with his magnificent passing range. And the young Frenchman did the same against the Tractor Boys.

He was not afraid to step into midfield at every given opportunity and he completed 13 out of 14 final third passes against Ipswich, more than any of his teammates on the night.

Yoro’s passing was impressive

The 19-year-old ended the game with a passing accuracy of 95 percent, misplacing only three passes out of 56. Not only that but the former Lille man also completed a 100 percent of his dribbles.

He had 67 touches and completed one long ball as well. Defensively, he was robust as usual, winning a 100 percent of his tackles (stats via sofascore).

The France U23 international won two out of three ground duels as well as one out of two aerial duel. He also completed six clearances on the night.

The United No 15 was reinstated after missing the last two games but was imperious on the night and Amorim will be pleased, especially with his bravery with the ball and his passing ability.

He is only 19 and both the coach and fans will be expecting a lot more from the French star moving forward. He now has a key role to play with Dorgu set to miss three games.

Which games will Dorgu miss?

Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu is facing a three-match domestic suspension, following his red card in the 3-2 win over Ipswich Town.

The defender was dismissed by referee Darren England after studying slow-motion replays of a challenge on Omari Hutchinson, not initially penalised with a free-kick, following a VAR review.

While the forceful tackle did clearly hurt the Town man, Ruben Amorim was keen to stress afterwards that there was no malicious intent from his player, who is now going to be unavailable for Sunday’s Emirates FA Cup fifth-round clash with Fulham.

Tickets for the Old Trafford game are still on sale.

Dorgu is also set to miss the Premier League games against Arsenal and Leicester City in March.

However, the Denmark international will be eligible for the two Europa League round-of-16 ties against Real Sociedad. The Spanish side were in cup semi-final action on Wednesday night, losing 1-0 at home to Real Madrid.

“It’s important,” Amorim said of his upcoming team selections. “We have players out so we have to keep our players available. We have to make some rotation but we have to fight for every game. It’s not a difference in the FA Cup or Europa League.

“He [Dorgu] is going to be ready to play. He will play in the Europa League, for sure, as we have to make rotation. It’s the life of a player, you make a mistake but you have to go again and play the next game.”

(Video) “People will judge right away but…”: Amorim launches passionate defence of United star who endured nightmare vs. Ipswich

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has admitted Patrick Dorgu made a mistake against Ipswich Town, but passionately slammed any suggestions that the former Lecce man is not ready for Premier League football.

Dorgu, who signed for United during the January transfer window, was given his marching orders in the first half of the club’s 3-2 win over Ipswich Town on Wednesday evening.

The Dane was sent off after a reckless challenge on Omari Hutchinson. Initially, the referee didn’t deem that the tackle was excessive but changed his mind after heading to the monitor.

Luckily for United, being a man down didn’t affect them too much as they still managed to clinch all three points courtesy of a Sam Morsy own goal and set-piece finishes from Matthijs de Ligt and Harry Maguire.

Both of Ipswich’s goals were bagged by Jaden Philogene.

After the final whistle, Amorim spoke to TNT Sports and was asked about Dorgu’s red card and whether the 20-year-old is ready for the step-up to England’s top flight.

The 40-year-old coach answered, “He’s ready because he proved it in the last game. Any player can make a mistake like he did tonight.”

“He wants to play the ball but maybe he’s a little rash in the way he went for the ball but he’s clearly ready. He’s inexperienced but he’s ready for the Premier League.”

“People will judge right away but last week he was okay…good performance against Everton and today they will say that he’s not experienced enough to play in the Premier League but I don’t feel that way.”

On whether he observed a change in confidence in his players, Amorim replied, “It was just a game but I felt that we started the game in a different way. You can feel it in the way we controlled possession.”

“We were more calm with the ball. More credit to my players because even with that goal [the early error], we managed to control the tempo of the game, create situations and then to turn things around…they did a great job.”

“Today I’m not frustrated. We controlled the game and since the first minute I felt the players were trying to play and we managed to score two goals.”

“The sending-off changed the game a bit but the fight the fans showed and the fans helped a lot and we fully deserved the three points.”

“There are some moments that are really hard but that’s natural in every profession, you need to suffer.”

“He’s inexperienced but he’s ready for the Premier League”

Ruben torn over low-block style

Ruben Amorim admitted that he found it difficult to see his Manchester United side perform as we did in the second half of our victory over Ipswich Town.

After a non-stop first half, where we looked set to go in with a slender lead, we instead had to contend with parity in the scoreline and a man disadvantage at the interval.

Patrick Dorgu’s dismissal moments before the break for a challenge on Omari Hutchinson was compounded by another setback in first-half stoppage time when Jaden Philogene scored his side’s second goal to equalise.

However, Harry Maguire scored the game’s decisive goal within two minutes of the restart, and United performed in resolute fashion from there to prevent our visitors from having almost any opportunities to get back into the game.

But our head coach had mixed feelings about how we had to go about getting the three points when it was put to him in his post-match press conference that he would perhaps like his players to set up in a more pro-active fashion.

Ruben also addressed his thoughts on our set-piece prowess on the night, plus Alejandro Garnacho’s first-half withdrawal and a host of other topics in his debrief with the media.

Keep reading for all of the boss’s quotes below…

POST-MATCH PRESS CONFERENCE | Garnacho and set-pieces were topics of conversation in Ruben’s media briefing…

Ruben, congratulations. After a difficult week at the football club, do you take satisfaction not just from the win, but the fact that you’ve provided the supporters with an entertaining game?

“I think this is really important, well-deserved by the fans. The support was amazing. I felt that since the day one, they just want to see a team fight until the end, no matter what the situation, and I think we did that today. And you have that feeling of connection with the fans. All the things in the game was against us and we fight through that and it was a good win for us.”

Hi, Ruben, congratulations on the win also. When you took Alejandro off, what was the thinking behind that, and did he have permission to go into the dressing room as well?

“It was cold and wet, maybe. The thinking was that we were playing more in the 5-3-1. I know that is a risk because you are taking [off] maybe the only player now that has one against one [quality] and pace. But I felt the team was okay and controlling of the game almost in the half-time and then we make the substitution and we have to choose someone to go out, we have to think about set pieces also, so that was my choice.”

It must be very pleasing that if you’ve thought about set-pieces, you’ve got three goals from those as well.

“Yes, and we talk about that many times here when we were suffering goals, and you talk about Carlos [Fernandes] and change with Andreas [Georgson], we are in the same team, and today they win the game for us, so the credit for them.”

Hi, Ruben, I just want to talk a bit more about the set-pieces. Did you imagine when you took over that that would be such a big threat for the team?

“No, it was one thing that I felt here is completely different than if you play abroad; the contact with the defenders, especially with the goalkeepers. So we adapt, and I think we are improving the way we defend but also the way we attack set-pieces, and like today, changed the game.”

De Ligt: It was a hard-fought win Video

De Ligt: It was a hard-fought win

Goalscorer Matthijs de Ligt reviews a positive result for a ‘scoring, fighting’ United at home to Ipswich…

You played with 10 men for a long time tonight, the same as against Arsenal in the FA Cup, Liverpool at Anfield as well was another good performance. I know that your idea is probably to play more proactive football eventually, but do you think the players are perhaps more comfortable being on the back foot at the moment and playing that way.

“I think that is clear, it is hard for me. So sometimes it’s like you are fighting and thats why I make that analysis also, when we are together, if we have players like Harry Maguire and Matta [Matthijs] de Ligt defending the box, they are really strong, but then when they have to cover a lot of space, the game changes for them. So I know that, but I have to not just think about now, of course we need to survive, but it is really hard for me to play like we play in the second half. But I feel the players are more comfortable sometimes defending in the low block.”

Great to win tonight, but how much have you got to improve and where have you got to improve if you’re going to get anything out of this season?

“We have to improve in every aspect. We lack some characteristics in our squad to play in the different way. We need to have more possession and I felt that today we were more calm with the ball, especially in the beginning and especially after we suffer the first goal, I think Bruno was really important on that. Sometimes we want Bruno higher in the pitch to be near the goal, but sometimes we need Bruno also building up and I think he was really good on that todayl because he’s really confident with the ball no matter what the context. We clearly need to create more chances and especially we need to score goals, I think that is a big issue in our team and when we think in the future, we need to address that.”

And no more horrible starts – I mean, that was a awful start.

“Yeah. It was the same, but sometimes you have… Everybody when they watch that ball were thinking: ‘Here we again.’ But then sometimes football is like that. We managed to fight all the situations during the game and I think we truly deserved the three points today.”

Can you just clarify, you’re not unhappy with Alejandro Garnacho for going down the tunnel?

“You are making a connection with Rashford, right?”

No, I’m just asking.

“Yeah, I know, I know. I’m not… What I’m saying is I’m going to talk obviously with Garnacho about that. So I will talk about that if you want in the next press conference.”

And just on Onana, what do you think of him as a goalkeeper? Because maybe it wasn’t his fault the first goal, but the second one, he seems to have that in his locker, these mistakes.

“I know, it’s… We have to work on that. So, of course, we need to improve, not just Andre, but we have so many problems. If you see a lot of players in some games make some mistakes that are important in the result of that game. So I don’t want to point just for one player, we need to improve as a team.”

How is Patrick, Ruben? It’s difficult, it’s obviously his [home] Premier League debut, a young player, it was difficult.

“The first situation I think when you look ,he is looking at the ball, when he look at Andre and then look at the ball, and when he look at the ball, Andre jumps for the ball, it was a misunderstanding the way they connect [with] each other. And then the sending off, the important thing is that I know Dorgu quite well, he doesn’t want to harm anybody and that is important for me. And then you have this situation, he had that mistake and then you feel in the game he was making a lot of runs, trying to win every ball, being aggressive and sometimes you over-do it.”

Man Utd pit of despair has fresh victim but Red Devils show welcome grit to beat Ipswich

Manchester United showed some welcome grit against Ipswich but Patrick Dorgu earned pre-flop status after a nightmare 40 minutes at Old Trafford.

After a woefully out-of-form Chelsea put four past Southampton on Tuesday we wondered whether we had ever seen a worse Premier League team. The three points they need to usurp 2007/2008 Derby County looked an awfully long way off as Marc Cucurella scored from a laughably simple counter-attack.

As Patrick Dorgu slipped a through ball past Andre Onana for Jaden Philogene to tap the ball into an empty net at Old Trafford in the fourth minute we briefly thought again. Southampton did, after all, give United a pummelling for 80 minutes on their own patch just over a month ago.

Robbie Savage pointed the finger of blame at Onana on commentary, and we’re sure the vast majority of Manchester United fans will be of a similar mind having decided their goalkeeper isn’t fit for purpose (like the club staff) while waiting as long as they can to swing that scythe at Dorgu in the hope that one of their signings might just come good. But even if we’re to assume that Onana failed to give the wing-back a shout, which we don’t know, Dorgu’s awareness and apparent complete lack of peripheral vision is worthy of rebuke. He was right there, mate.

Just like Omari Hutchinson’s leg was right there. If you haven’t seen the challenge you’ll need a strong stomach to watch it back. Hutchinson is a very lucky boy to have walked away from a leg breaker that can’t be excused, not even by Dorgu’s inexperience which clearly played its part in his desperation to make up for his early error. There was no slip, he was out of control and left Darren England with no option but to send him packing after a VAR review.

United had rallied. Rasmus Hojlund ducked out of a header to give Own Goals a one-goal advantage over him in the Red Devils goalscoring charts – two for him, three for them – and Matthijs de Ligt pounced on some pinball to give the home side the lead. It wasn’t pretty, but there was some rare desire, grit and energy on show, both after Ipswich took that bombshell early lead and after being knocked by the visitors drawing level at half-time. We all expected the well-rehearsed Red Devils implosion.

Philogene cut in off the right before swinging in a dangerous cross into The Corridor, and in stark contrast to his counterpart at the other end of the pitch, Liam Delap bullied De Ligt in the box and waved a leg at the ball as it went straight in at the far post. Cue further undeserved blame for easy target Onana.

But Maguire took advantage of some typically ropey Ipswich defending to put United back in front with a header from a corner early in the second half, and Ruben Amorim’s side defended manfully after that. Leny Yoro was particulalry impressive and looks as though he may finally be climbing out of the abyss of hopelessness that swallows all new signings at Old Trafford and is currently gorging on another victim in Dorgu.

He’s 20 and this was just his 61st senior appearance, with the step up from Lecce to Manchester United a far bigger one than the majority of his predecessors who have arrived and succumbed to the pressure of playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world, most of whom didn’t have to cope with the added stress of being expected to perform immediately in the worst iteration of that biggest club.

As Amorim said after the game, Dorgu “doesn’t want to harm anybody”, and the United boss will be hoping the three-game suspension allows the £25m January signing some time and breathing space to bed in ahead of the run-in, lest he be tarred by the same flop-brandishing brush as the last 427 arrivals to the grim and unpleasant land.

Manchester United earned a hard-fought three points in the Premier League with a valiant 3-2 win over Ipswich Town.

Despite playing the entirety of the second half with 10 men, Ruben Amorim’s side defended well and showed plenty of grit to see out the victory in M16.

We asked you, the supporters, after the encounter, to vote for your Man of the Match and it was hard to decide between some standout performers.

But winning by an almighty margin was one player who continues to epitomise everything good about our side of late…

Captain Bruno Fernandes collected 59 per cent of the votes lodged on our platforms, with the Portuguese playmaker creating two of the goals.

Even if he is granted just the one assist officially, that means our no.8 has a whopping 23 goal contributions in 39 games for United this term and we cannot understate his performances.

Running himself into the ground, Bruno’s efforts were clearly appreciated as he made his way off the field.

It’s two awards in a matter of days for Bruno – who also claimed the same prize after our 2-2 draw against Everton at Goodison Park recently too.

In second place was Harry Maguire who claimed 26 per cent after his match-winning header helped us claim the three points.

Harry seemed to be absolutely everywhere across the 90 minutes and managed to handle the threat of Town danger man Liam Delap.

Our no.5 won five out of six aerial duels and also won all three ground duels in a standout display in defence.

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim was more than pleased with his side’s efforts in overcoming Ipswich Town 3-2 in an entertaining Premier League encounter.

The Reds were good value for the narrow victory, despite going down to 10 men in the first half when Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu was sent off.

Harry Maguire’s header proved the difference after the break and the dogged display, appreciated by the Old Trafford crowd, yielded three important points to lift morale in advance of Sunday’s Emirates FA Cup tie against Fulham.

“It’s really good for a coach to see that. It’s one thing passing that moment to have a performance like this, when the performance is like this, it’s not perfect, but we suffer a goal with one mistake. In this context, I felt that the team were more calm than in certain games. That’s a good thing. We turned things around, scored twice and were clearly in control. Then we had the sending off and had to fight for the three points. Today was a good performance in all aspects for my team and also our fans. They were amazing.”

MORE IN CONTROL

“I enjoyed the performance and the way we managed all the things against us. I felt the team were strangely more in control in possession than in other games with 11 players. Football is like that sometimes. You get surprises. We defended in the second half and tried to make some transitions to win the game.”

THE OPENING GOAL

“I think it is something that happen, even with other players. It was like Patrick, when he looked, he saw Andre Onana on the goal but then looked down and made the pass and Andre was already out. A misunderstanding.”

THE RED CARD

“I didn’t see it. The important thing is I know my player and he doesn’t want to injure a colleague in his profession. He wants to play the ball. Maybe it was a little bit harsh in the way he went for the ball. I didn’t see the image so I have to see it. But clearly he’s ready for the Premier League. He’s inexperienced but people judge right away. Last week, he was okay and had a good performance against Everton. Today, you say he’s not experienced enough. We have central defenders who are very good defending the box and we saw already [with ten men] against Arsenal and Wolverhampton, when we were so near to drawing game, today we managed to score so the result was very good.”

THE FANS LOVE TO SEE US FIGHT

“The fans are amazing. They’ve been suffering a lot of years but especially this season. They just want to see their team fight. I think, with our fans, it’s more easy to feel love from them when they just want to see the team fight and that is what we are supposed to do in every match.”

ON TO FULHAM

“I just focus on the next game. It’s really important for us to establish a little bit in the table. We need to survive this season and enjoy every game that we win and prepare for the next one.”
