Beaming Amorim names four key traits that make Sesko the perfect fit for United

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has highlighted four qualities that make Benjamin Sesko the ideal striker for the club.

United unveil Sesko

After weeks of pursuing Sesko and fighting it out with Premier League rivals Newcastle for his signature, United finally reached an agreement with RB Leipzig for the player on Thursday.

Sesko jetted to Manchester the same day to complete his medical and put pen to paper on a five-year contract with the Red Devils.

On Saturday morning, United released a statement confirming the Slovenian’s arrival. He has joined United for an initial £66.4million plus an additional £7.3m in add-ons.

Sesko was unveiled at Old Trafford just before the start of the pre-season meeting with Fiorentina. He was presented at the stadium alongside fellow new signings Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Diego Leon.

The 22-year-old’s move to United marks the end of the club’s chase for a striker.

Amorim spoke to MUTV and expressed confidence that Sesko has what it takes to hit the ground running at United and become a success.

In particular, Amorim named four attributes that make Sesko perfect for United.

Amorim on Sesko

Amorim said, “He has the characteristics that we needed. Ben is a player with all the information that we have, that we need to stop the guy from working, not the opposite!”

“So that is also important. He’s really young. He’s good in the air, he’s good at running the channels, good on the ball.”

“I think he has great potential. I think he can improve a lot and, for sure, he is going to feel at home in our club. He has the right character to be in this group, so I’m really happy to have him.”

Amorim acknowledged that Sesko is joining a squad that is fully focused on playing well and producing results ahead of the upcoming season.

“That is important. He is going to notice, since the first day and first training, that he is in the right place.”

“He is going to a new building [at Carrington], that is also important. Things are getting better but, in the end, we need to win games.”

Up next for United is Arsenal on Sunday, 17 August.
