Bayern Munich forward Kingsley Coman is set to miss Friday’s Bundesliga opener against Schalke as he is self-isolating at home after he had contact with a person infected with coronavirus

The German giants confirmed the France winger would need to spend ‘a period in isolation’ and will undertake remote virtual training sessions.

Coman, who has been identified by Manchester United as potential alternative to Jadon Sancho, tested negative for the coronavirus on Sunday.

After a press conference on Tuesday, Bayern issued a statement in English in which they stated Coman would miss the Schalke game but a German version did not include that detail.  

In the statement, Bayern said: ‘The 24-year-old attacker has been in contact with a person infected with the coronavirus and is in now undertaking a period of isolation at home, in accordance with the guidelines outlined by the Robert Koch Institute and in coordination with the Health Department of the City of Munich. 

‘Coman will keep himself fit at home with remote virtual training sessions.’

Coman scored the only goal of the game when Bayern beat Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 in the Champions League final last month.
