Aston Villa are continuing their work in the summer transfer market after the signings of Emiliano Buendia and Ashley Young.

Villa smashed their transfer record to land Buendia from Norwich in a deal that was formally confirmed in June.

Young’s return to Villa Park on a free transfer was then completed with the club keen to press on with more business before the window closes at the end of the month.

Meanwhile, Villa are in talks with Manchester City over a potential deal for skipper Jack Grealish.

With that in mind, here is a round-up of the latest news and speculation from in and around Villa Park:

Grealish decision set to be made Grealish isn’t due back for full training until today and it’s this week we’ll find out what happens next with Villa set for crunch discussions with their captain.

Man City have now come in strong for the England international having tabled an opening offer of £100million after first contacting Villa’s hierachy on Thursday (July 29).

In terms of Villa’s stance, Dean Smith, Christian Purslow and the owners will sit down with Grealish this week to iron out his future with a bumper new contract – believed to be in the region of £200,000-a-week – on the table for him to sign.

Villa always knew a bid was coming while, let’s not forget, it was Grealish who signed his five-year, £125,000-a-week deal just last September where he himself outlined how he “believed in the project” that was sold to him by Purslow and chairman Nassef Sawiris.

Villa remain confident of keeping Grealish but the bottom line is this: it’ll be up to the playmaker himself to force a move should he wish to join the Premier League champions.

Tuanzebe loan cost confirmed Manchester United are demanding £5m for sending centre-half Axel Tuanzebe on loan.

That’s according to The Sun who say the 23-year-old could be allowed to spend another spell away from Old Trafford in search of game time.

Villa and Newcastle are the clubs claimed to be interested, with Tuanzebe well known to Villa fans after he helped the club return to the Premier League in 2019.

Indeed Tuanzebe has had two loan spells at Villa Park, his first one in 2017/2018 was cut short by injury but he more than made up the following season.

Since then he has gone on to make 37 appearances for United – but played only nine times in the Premier League last season.

Norwich want record fee for Cantwell Villa would have to break their club transfer record for the second time this summer if they are to bring Todd Cantwell to the club, according to The Sun.

Villa are believed to have identified Cantwell as a potential replacement should Grealish join City.

Villa have already paid the Canaries £33million for Buendia – breaking last summer’s record transfer for Ollie Watkins.

And they might have to do it again, with Norwich said to be reluctant to lose another player to Villa.

The story claims the 23-year-old will cost Villa £40m with Norwich all too aware that Villa will be cash rich if Grealish does complete a £100m move to the Etihad.
