Arsenal under Arteta Mikel Arteta is now in the midst of his third season at Arsenal.
Granted, he did take over midway through 2019/20 following Unai Emery’s sacking, but the Spaniard still only guided the Gunners to an 8th place finish that term.
2020/21 would then by Arteta’s first full season at the helm, and with big signings such as Thomas Partey and Gabriel, fans were likely expecting a bit more from their side.
However, the north Londoners were once again forced to settle for 8th place last campaign.
This summer has since once again seen Arsenal fairly active in the market, addressing some problem areas and adding youth to the side.
But, though we are only six weeks into the season, Arsenal reclaiming a top-six spot this term does already seem quite unlikely.
Arsenal had a simply horrid start to the season, which saw them lose three league games in a row without scoring a single goal.
Arsenal’s stance on sacking Arteta The Gunners have since bounced back to a certain extent, picking up 1-0 wins over fellow strugglers, Norwich and Burnley.
Now though, Arteta and co. are set to face their first real test following their upturn in form.
Arsenal are set to host Tottenham in a North London Derby later today. Spurs have had a mixed start to 2021/22, losing two and winning three in the PL.
But the Lilywhites should still prove a much harder game than Burnley or Norwich.
And, ahead of the game, Arsenal’s stance on Mikel Arteta’s future has been revealed.
As per football.london citing the Daily Mail:
Arsenal are reportedly not considering sacking Mikel Arteta following the Gunners’ resurgence over recent weeks.
It is added that replacements for the Spaniard were reportedly sounded out over the past few months, but two wins in the PL and a spot in the 4th round of the League Cup look have changed the Arsenal board’s position for the time being.
