Arsenal turn attentions towards Kulusevski as Vlahovic swoop hits wall

Premier League giants Arsenal have, according to reports, set their sights on the signature of Juventus talent Dejan Kulusevski.

Gunners on song The mood on the red half of north London has of course proven a rosy one over recent weeks.

This comes with Arsenal, whilst the likes of rivals Tottenham and Manchester United stutter, in the midst of an altogether impressive resurgence.

Since a trio of successive Premier League defeats to open the season, the Gunners have remained unbeaten across ten outings in all competitions, including a 1-0 win over Watford to climb into 5th in the Premier League table this past weekend.

Singled out for the majority of the praise when it comes to such stellar form have been Mikel Arteta’s defensive troops, with the likes of Aaron Ramsdale, Gabriel Magalhaes and Takehiro Tomiyasu all impressing.

It should be noted, though, that Arsenal’s attacking stars have too begun to click into gear of late, to the tune of two or more goals in six of the club’s last eight fixtures.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Emile Smith Rowe have both found their goalscoring touch once more, whilst Alexandre Lacazette, too, appears to have wrestled back favour with boss Arteta.

Kulu swoop? But, as outlined above, if the latest word doing the rounds in the European media on Thursday is anything to go by, then those in a position of power at the Emirates appear far from ready to rest on their laurels.

This comes with fresh attacking reinforcements being eyed by Edu and co.

Recent weeks have of course seen the Gunners hotly tipped as a potential destination for Fiorentina sensation Dusan Vlahovic.

Some reports even went as far as to suggest that the brass in north London would be willing to meet the steep 80 million euro valuation laid out by their Fiorentina counterparts.

An update on the situation stemming from Italy this evening, however, suggests that Arsenal’s Vlahovic pursuit may already be dead in the water.

This comes with the Serbian’s agents having ‘put up a wall’, unwilling to even sit down with Edu and his transfer team to hold discussions over a potential move to the English capital.

Arsenal, as a result, have been forced to look elsewhere in their pursuit of fresh options in the final third, with a new name, in turn, having been thrown up by transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Gunners are now understood to have ‘registered interest’ in Juventus talent Dejan Kulusevski.

The Swede has struggled to nail down a regular starting berth under Massimiliano Allegri over the early months of the campaign, notching just a goal and assist across all competitions as a result.

But Mikel Arteta evidently remains a firm believer in the abilities possessed by ‘Kulu’, leading the board at the Emirates to make an ‘initial inquiry’ over the possibility of a January swoop.

Unlike Vlahovic, who is a clear-cut centre-forward by trade, Kulusevski is capable of lining out in a range of positions, including as an inverted left winger, and attack-minded midfielder.
