Ruben Amorim says Manuel Ugarte, Leny Yoro and Christian Eriksen are fit to return to the Manchester United squad.
Amorim was speaking at the pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow’s Premier League clash against Everton and was asked whether his week had been better than last.
“Yes [better week] because we didn’t lose players, Chris [Eriksen], Manu and Leny will return,” he said.
“I felt the week was really good. I see things in training but sometimes it’s hard to pass that to the game. I feel they are improving. I hope tomorrow is another opportunity to show a better performance.
“With Chris, it was a misunderstanding [mention of his heart after Tottenham] and I want to be really clear on that. Also because of Chris, he’s healthy and ready to play, so many years at the high level and it was just my limitation on explaining injuries, so I want to make this really clear.”
On when the other injuries will be resolved, the boss said:
“It’s hard to say. Amad is for a long time. Mase [Mason Mount] continues to make his recovery, Luke as well. Kobbie seems to be the closest but not now. Altay is making the recovery, Tom [Heaton] is making the recovery.”
On tomorrow’s opponents and their excellent run of form under new manager David Moyes, he said:
“The confidence, the way they play, they believe a lot, so it’s an amazing job from David Moyes to recover a team and you can feel the confidence when you watch their games, so it will be a really difficult game.”
Amorim was asked for his reaction to the Europa League draw against Real Sociedad.
“If I’m thinking about Real Sociedad and winning trophies, that’s not the right way to do my job,” he replied.
“I just want to win against Everton, I want to be clear on that. We have a lot of issues to solve. If I’m thinking about Real Sociedad and winning trophies, that’s not the right way to do my job.”
The head coach was oozing confidence about the improvement he has seen in training but admits the team struggle to implement the system in matches.
“They are improving, creating relationships, even the sound of the training is different, but we have to use that in the game and we have to take that step, I feel in training we are bonding and understanding the way we want to play, but then in a game, we struggle a lot.
“I just want to win games, that is the point. I teach what I know, that is clear with me. I stick to my beliefs and try to transmit that to the players. I try to adapt to the players that I have, but my focus is on winning games.”
On sticking to his principles and system despite the team’s struggles, he replied:
