Amorim Praises “Special” £65M Rated Forward As He Reveals Whether Man Utd Will Enter January Transfer Battle

BACK David Tully Dec 15th 2025 Man Utd head coach Ruben Amorim has played down reports that the Red Devils could make a move for Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo during the January transfer window. While Amorim said his team will not be pursuing the Ghanaian international, he did admit that the forward is a “special” talent: “No, that’s not that case [that I want to sign Semenyo]. I think there are a lot of special players in the league.” “What I feel is that, to summarise, they [have a] top manager, a top team, I really like the team and the top player, I think is a special player.” Semenyo will be on the market While United may not table a bid for the 25-year-old, a release clause in his contract means he will be the subject of plenty of interest in January. It is believed that Semenyo will be available for £65m for the first two weeks of next month. While Bournemouth are said to be reluctant to let him leave, they will be powerless to do anything if a club pays the buyout fee in full. Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham are regarded as the three frontrunners to secure the forward’s signature. A former Man Utd star wants him at Old Trafford Speaking last week, ex-United winger Nani urged his former team to make a move for Semenyo. The Portuguese stated that the Ghanaian is the type of player “fans want to see”. You can read his comments in full here. Despite Nani’s remarks, though, it is thought that Amorim’s team will focus their efforts on snapping up a midfielder when the transfer window reopens, rather than another forward. It should not be forgotten that the Red Devils shelled out £207m on the likes of Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha last summer.
