Amorim left shocked with how terrible Ten Hag’s big-money signing is, United desperate to offload him – report

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim is not satisfied with Rasmus Hojlund’s quality, as per reports.

Much has been written about United’s disastrous defence which let Brennan Johnson score the match winning goal from a weak cross in the Europa League final.

However, the Red Devils had plenty of time to turn things around in Bilbao but their attack never stepped up.

Hojlund, in particular, delivered a dire performance on Wednesday. Apart from his timid header, which Micky van de Ven cleared off the line in the second half, the United striker did nothing to test Spurs’ backline.

Many fans have even questioned Amorim’s decision to start the Dane in the season-defining clash given his form. Interestingly, it is being claimed that even the Portuguese is frustrated with Hojlund’s quality – or lack thereof.

According to Givemesport, United are open to parting ways with Hojlund this summer.

Signed from Atalanta for £72 million in 2023, the 22-year-old has notched just 26 goals in 94 appearances, underlining he is simply not good enough to spearhead United’s attack.

It is claimed that Amorim is “very surprised” at his level of quality, given how much money he cost.

The report further adds: “Amorim has ‘made it clear to the Manchester United hierarchy’ that Hojlund being his only striker is not a situation he wants to continue.”

In his two seasons at Old Trafford, Hojlund has left everyone frustrated with his movement, finishing, and hold-up play, which, in his case, is nothing but wrestling with defenders.

It is understood that United are so keen on pushing Hojlund out of the club that if they fail to find a buyer for him, they are “happy for him to depart on loan.”

It seems the Mancunians’ forward line is set for a major revamp as Amorim has allegedly told Alejandro Garnacho to find a new club and Bruno Fernandes is attracting strong interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Saudi Arabia.
