Amorim issues concerning injury update on Sesko after dramatic 2-2 draw vs. Tottenham Hotspur

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has issued a concerning fitness update on Benjamin Sesko after Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur. United salvage point vs. Spurs United took the lead in the 32nd minute through in-form forward Bryan Mbeumo, who headed home Amad’s brilliant cross at the back post. The Red Devils maintained their advantage for large parts of the game and it looked like they were headed for the win, but Mathys Tel drew the hosts level in the 84th minute of proceedings. Tel, who came on as a substitute, got the better of Matthijs de Ligt to fire the ball into the top corner. The ball deflected off De Ligt, giving Senne Lammens no chance of keeping it out. Spurs thought they had won it when Richarlison flicked the ball into the back of the net from Wilson Odobert’s effort. However, De Ligt came up clutch in the 97th minute, getting on the score sheet to ensure the points were shared in North London. Benjamin Sesko was introduced to the game just before the hour mark to replace Noussair Mazraoui. Sesko didn’t have the best cameo, failing to put away to very good goalscoring opportunities that could have perhaps secured a comfortable victory for his side. Sesko’s second miss was costly for more than one reason, as he also picked up an injury from a Mick van de Ven challenge. The Slovenian was forced to come off. Amorim had already used all his five substitutes by that point and as a result, United saw off the rest of the game with 10 men. After the final whistle, Amorim spoke to reporters and revealed that Sesko has a problem, although further assessments will need to be done to determine the extent of the issue. But sometimes this happens, you have a better first half than second.” “We believe in our capacity to score goals until the last minute.” The Portuguese coach hailed Senne Lammens, who enjoyed another superb performance. “He is doing really well, he understand in a game a lot of things can happen, but as a goalkeeper you have to move on. It’s a like a new game every time the ball is on the pitch.” Amorim also said on BBC Match of the Day, “It was a complicated match, especially in the end. If you look at the game the three points were there to take. I think we can be so much better to understand more what’s happening in the game.” “We lacked a little bit in the final third, the quality was not perfect. We fight in every adversity. We lost Harry Maguire, Casemiro, Benjamin Sesko and we lose two goals, but we still managed to score.” “That lack of quality in the simple things of the games, it wasn’t there.
