Amorim identifies perfect replacement for United star he’s fed up with and “wants out” immediately – report

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim is reportedly planning for life without Andre Onana and has already identified two potential replacements, with one of them being Real Sociedad’s Alex Remiro.

There is renewed speculation over Onana’s United future following his mistake-strewn performance in the club’s 2-2 Europa League draw with Lyon.

Onana was culpable for both goals conceded—firstly misjudging a free-kick from Thiago Almada, and later parrying a shot into the path of Rayan Cherki, who slotted home in stoppage time to bring Lyon level.

The Cameroonian has faced heavy criticism, and his future at United appears increasingly uncertain—an impression strengthened by his omission from the matchday squad that faced Newcastle at St James’ Park on Sunday afternoon.

Even before Onana’s howlers, United were being linked to several shot-stoppers including Lucas Chevalier (Lille), Senne Lammens (Royal Antwerp), James Trafford (Burnley) and Bart Vebruggen (Brighton and Hove Albion), just to mention a few names.

A previous report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that the Red Devils are also eyeing Espanyol’s Joan Garcia.

Now, a report from Spain [via Football365] has claimed that in addition to Garcia, Amorim is also an admirer of Sociedad’s Alex Remiro.

It’s understood that Amorim is fed up with Onana and “wants him out of United.”

The Portuguese coach “plans the new Manchester United without Onana” as he will no longer “rely” on the error-prone 29-year-old.

Onana’s howlers have caused “growing discontent” among the fans and there is an acceptance that now is the right time to move him on.

The report adds that Amorim likes Garcia for his “agility, reflexes and competitive maturity.”

Remiro’s main point of attraction is his experience and reliability. In addition to this, the Sociedad man is good with his feet and would be a great asset in helping United play out from the back.

United are familiar with Remiro, having come up against Sociedad in the Europa League round of 16.
