‘Amazing’ Man Utd player should be handed golden opportunity to start vs Arsenal after latest update – opinion

The injury list for Manchester United is showing no signs of easing and could actually be getting worse, but one player could benefit.

For Erik ten Hag, injuries have been a deciding factor in how terribly this season has gone to date. In particular, the defence and midfield positions have been severely impacted.

This has seen Manchester United short at times, forced to play players in unfamiliar positions such as Casemiro being a centre-half lately.

But now, ahead of facing Arsenal on Sunday, it’s the attacking midfield slot which now requires a hero as it seems like both Bruno Fernandes and Mason Mount are injured – despite Ten Hag’s optimism over his captain being fit.

In this event, it could be that one man is handed the golden opportunity to start his first league game this season.

Why Amad Diallo must start in midfield for Manchester United vs Arsenal

With the two standout options not really ready to play, and little point rushing Bruno back for a game which means nothing to our season, Amad Diallo should be starting.

Amad has been so patient this season waiting for his chance as he’s been unfairly treated.

Despite being used sparingly by Ten Hag, the Ivorian hasn’t ever let his manager down when called upon and his goal is what’s helped put United in the FA Cup final.

Another reason he should be played is that recent form tells us that things have to change in the team. Amad could be the change needed as well with his dynamism being suited to sitting central where he can create and has excellent ball security.

The 21-year-old is no stranger to playing in attacking midfield either which makes it an excellent call for him to move into that position – while resting Bruno for the final as that’s a far more important game.

Amad actually thrives in attacking midfield

Despite being a natural right-winger, Amad’s future has long looked to be more central due to his technical ability.

Last season while on loan at Sunderland, Tony Mowbray often used the ‘amazing’ player in the No. 10 position.

He featured in this position nine times and impressively scored five goals while more central.

Facing Arsenal isn’t the ideal time to throw Amad in, as it’ll be a tricky game which United aren’t expected to win given the form both sides are in, coming into this game.

But Amad needs to play football, and if he isn’t given that over the next two weeks, he could seek new pastures this summer.
