Academy wonderkid who impressed during the post-season Asia tour subject of interest from two League One clubs – report

Manchester United are not only focused on first-team recruitment but are also hoping to get their academy in shape ahead of the new season.

This includes arranging the right loan spells for promising youngsters while also bringing in the right profiles for the various age-group teams.

Ruben Amorim is expected to decide the immediate futures of several Carrington wonderkids after seeing them during pre-season.

The head coach already knows a lot about a few of them, from multiple training sessions and from the club’s recent post-season Asia trip.

Jack Moorhouse could depart on loan

One youngster who has caught the Portuguese tactician’s eye is Jack Moorhouse, who has regularly trained with the senior team and started against ASEAN All-Stars and impressed against Hong Kong.

His displays for the academy have been impressive to say the least, especially his ability to evade pressure and carry the ball forward with lung-bursting runs.

There was talk of earning an official debut but that did not materialise and now, The Daily Mail have claimed he could leave on loan in the summer.

There is interest from two League One clubs — Stockport County and Huddersfield Town, with both sides making loan enquiries for the 19-year-old.

“Many of the club’s promising youngsters will be evaluated for loans after the pre-season tour of the United States, but we understand Stockport County and Huddersfield Town have already made enquiries about midfielder Jack Moorhouse.”

He is not the only midfield talent linked with an exit with Sekou Kone also linked with a loan move to INEOS-owned FC Lausanne-Sport despite his impressive performances in Asia.

Kone, Williams also set for loan exits

Another star who could depart temporarily is Ethan Williams, who enjoyed a fine loan spell with League Two side Cheltenham Town.

He could be set for a promotion to League One with the Red Devils trying to find the perfect team in the third division for him. No names have been mentioned as yet.

“Sekou Kone is expected to leave on a season-long loan with Swiss side Lausanne, also owned by Ineos, at the front of that queue.

“Ethan Williams thrived on loan at League Two Cheltenham Town last season and now a League One club is being sought out to further his development.”
