BACK Manchester United’s recruitment team have been discussing a potential move for Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, according to reports in the English media. The Argentinian international played an important role in his country’s World Cup victory and he has also been linked with the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal. While there are plenty of fans on Twitter who would like United to sign Mac Allister, there are a few doubting whether he would be the right addition to the squad: Will be a very good signing — Abubakar (@Abubaka84727537) March 7, 2023 I would absolutely love him at United but don’t think its gonna happen — Lakshya (@Lucifer7180) March 7, 2023 Go get him — Chovav (@vi_dodi) March 7, 2023 Good deal — First and last ever goal🔥 (@Futballmemories) March 7, 2023 Is he really worth the 60+ mill that’s being quoted — doyleosutd 🇶🇦 🇶🇦 (@doyleosUTD) March 7, 2023 Perfect. He has ball sense and everything needed — Wilkie Samuel (@WilkieSamuel1) March 7, 2023 Please we don’t need him — Fizzy of benin (@__Jeffizzy_MBE_) March 7, 2023 Would be a good signing but Brighton very hard to negotiate with, especially when you’ve got clowns negotiating! — Tom (@TommyRedGun) March 7, 2023 Alongside Moises Caicedo in midfield, Mac Allister has proven to be an outstanding player for Brighton, and he transferred those performances onto the international stage in Qatar. There aren’t really many complaints about his quality, but the cost of the deal could prove to be problematic. Brighton are notoriously difficult negotiators and there is a feeling that Mac Allister could cost as much as £70m, especially with the amount of competition for his signature.
