Manchester United reportedly face competition from Real Madrid for one of their key transfer targets, AFC Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez.
The left back position is seen as an area where United must improve on and with Luke Shaw suffering yet another relapse in his return to fitness, it seems that they may need to even sign someone in January.
The club reportedly have a six man shortlist as they aim to solve the glaring issue in Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-3 formation.
The Red Devils have been tracking numerous players such as Alphonso Davies and Wolverhampton’s Rayan Aït-Nouri but one player they have held a long term interest in is Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez.
The Hungarian has impressed in the Premier League with his marauding performances and it was reported back in September that United would go head-to-head with eternal rivals Liverpool for his signature.
They could have rivals from further afield however, as Spanish outlet Defensa Central report that “Real Madrid are on the lookout for the big Premier League star” and they are following the development of the player.
It is reported that Madrid’s interest in United target Davies is “becoming more and more complicated, and the Los Blancos have begun to explore alternatives.”
“One of the names that has gained strength is that of Milos Kerkez, a young talent from Bournemouth.”
Madrid are currently unhappy with the form of youngster Fran Garcia and believe physical problems have taken their toll on Ferland Mendy.
The European champions are said to be keen on the full back as he “not only stands out for his present, but also for his projection.”
Fabrizio Romano reported back in July that United had “genuine” interest in Kerkez, so perhaps Madrid’s attraction to the player could act as a trigger for the Red Devils to make their move in the winter, especially as it seems that Davies may in fact, sign a new deal at Bayern Munich.
Growing interest in Kerkez is understandable as he has been in fine form this season once again, playing 14 games, scoring one goal and providing two assists for Bournemouth, who sit ninth in the table.
