“She’s going so quick”: Eva Olid provides fitness boost ahead of Manchester United Women’s clash with West Ham

Manchester United Women have turned a corner lately.

After two poor results to start the season against London City Lionesses and Chelsea, they almost snatched a victory at the Emirates Stadium last Saturday in what ended up as a 1-1 draw.

The Red Devils secured their first win of the Eva Olid era when they crushed Sheffield United 10-1 in the Players’ Cup.

Pre-match presser

United will take on West Ham United tomorrow as they return to league action, and Olid spoke to the media before the game.

The Spaniard gave a fitness update on Celin Bizet, who recently returned to training after giving birth.

She claimed, “Celin is a different situation because, initially, the performance department had a plan for her.”

The manager added, “but she’s feeling so good. She’s training so good and, probably, she will be back soon.”

Olid went on to explain, “in theory, they wanted to leave more time, because she’s just come back from having a baby, but she’s going so quick and will be back sooner than we expected.”

She continued, “still, we don’t have an exact time, but it will be quite soon.”

Further fitness updates

The head coach also added what she knows about the fitness of the rest of her side entering the match.

She stated, “we have tomorrow to check a few things [in the squad as a whole] but, in this moment, we have Ellen (Wangerheim) coming back. The rest is the same, Jayde [Riviere] and Emma [Watson] still need a little more time to come back.”

The match will kick off tomorrow afternoon at 13:00 BST at the Progress with Unity Stadium.
