United pushing to seal signing of 26-yo South American star, stunning offer sent to his representatives – report

Manchester United continue to be linked with a move for Paraguayan goalkeeper Orlando Gill. On Tuesday, Fabrizio Romano claimed that United are not exploring a deal for Gill, given the Red Devils have already signed Karl Darlow to provide cover to Senne Lammens next season. However, reports in South America suggest United are pushing to get Gill’s signing over the line this summer. Orlando Gill’s agent has “bombshell” offer from Manchester United DSports Radio (via Sport Witness) cover journalist Gonzalo Orellano’s claims that Manchester United have made a bid for Orlando Gill. Gill’s agent has supposedly revealed that he is handling an offer close to $8m [€7m] from the Premier League giants. This is, however, still short of San Lorenzo’s demand of €10m. ⏳ A San Lorenzo todavía no le llegó nada y esperarán por la oferta… pic.twitter.com/qk5Gf8gZtI — DSports Radio 103.1 FM (@DSportsRadio) July 21, 2026 Meanwhile, the 26-year-old Paraguayan’s contract, which runs until December 2027, includes a €20m release clause. San Lorenzo are hoping to take advantage of the rise in Gill’s reputation by securing a significant fee. Orellano underlines that the Argentine side have not received any formal proposal, which means Gill’s agent is yet to transfer the supposed bid to the player’s club. Still, it is believed the San Lorenzo star will definitely leave this summer. Orlando Gill was phenomenal in the World Cup It has been previously reported in Brazil that United have made initial contact to assess a potential transfer for Gill, who emerged as one of the standout South American stars at the World Cup. The Paraguay international was named FIFA’s Player of the Match against both Germany and France. Furthermore, the 6’6″ giant made the highest number of saves (23) in the tournament. While Gill appears to be a solid shot-stopper, it is difficult to see where he would fit in at United, given the Red Devils already have five senior goalkeepers and are looking to offload Radek Vítek and Altay Bayındır. As such, it seems United’s name is being used to drum up interest from other European clubs.  Featured image Buda Mendes via Getty Images The Peoples Person has been one of the world’s leading Man United news sites for over a decade.
