Former Manchester United star Sir David Beckham has received yet another accolade in a star-studded career. Man United career The former England captain made his name at Manchester United. After Eric Cantona retired, Beckham bore the responsibility of wearing the number seven on his back, playing 394 times for the club and scoring 85 goals. He was also sensational in the treble-winning 1998-1999 season, finishing second in the Ballon d’Or rankings. Beckham left United for Real Madrid in 2003 after falling out with Sir Alex Ferguson. The midfielder spent four seasons in the Spanish capital before moving to Los Angeles Galaxy. He then spent two loan spells at AC Milan before retiring at Paris Saint-Germain during the 2012-2013 season. Post football career Since the 1990s, Beckham has been a pop and fashion icon, but he has also had a successful business career. Beckham has been part-owner of Salford City with former teammate Gary Neville and is also the owner of the increasingly successful MLS franchise Inter Miami. Latest success The Manchester United official website has highlighted the latest reward for the United legend. The site states, “former Manchester United star Sir David Beckham has had his name added to the Hollywood Walk of Fame.” It is also explained that “the Walk of Fame sees icons from various industries have their name imprinted in a star and laid on Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street, and has become a key attraction in Los Angeles.” Commenting on the success, Beckham explained, “I’ve experienced some amazing moments in my career. But to be here in Los Angeles receiving a star on the world-famous Walk of Fame is truly incredible. I’ve always been a dreamer, but I could never have imagined that an honour like this would come to a working-class English soccer player like me. I grew up in the east end of London, a long way from Hollywood.” Beckham continued, “as a young boy, I loved soccer more than anything and it was all I ever wanted to do.
