The best place: Former PSG ace urges red-hot marksman with 30 g/a last season to join United for one key reason

Manchester United have been home to some prolific strikers in the past, and it appears that they are eyeing another red-hot hitman ahead of the summer. The Red Devils vastly improved their attacking output after investing over £200 million in Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha last year. After registering just 44 goals in 38 league games in the 2024/25 campaign, United managed 69 goals in the Premier League in the recently concluded season. The English giants’ new attacking trident all hit double figures, helping the club secure third place in the league table and qualify for next season’s Champions League. However, INEOS are unwilling to rest on their laurels and are already planning further improvements to their frontline. While Sesko remains highly regarded at Old Trafford, he only turned 23 over the weekend and is hardly the finished article. United are now looking to sign an established No. 9 ahead of a busy season to help share the workload with the Slovenian and aid in his development. Recent reports suggest that Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen is fast emerging as a priority target for the role. One of Europe’s finest strikers Osimhen spent time with Wolfsburg, Charleroi and Lille before arriving at Napoli in the summer of 2020. It was at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium that the Nigerian became a household name after lifting the Serie A title in the 2022/23 campaign. However, Osimhen’s relationship with the Italian giants deteriorated the following campaign, and he ultimately left the club in the summer of 2024 to complete a loan move to Istanbul. The 27 year old was a huge hit in his debut campaign in Turkey, helping Galatasaray lift the league title and finishing as top scorer. The Lions opted to sign him permanently last summer, and Osimhen responded by helping the club defend their league title. He registered 22 goals and eight assists in 33 appearances in the 2025/26 season for Galatasaray. Osimhen’s performances have already caused a stir at the Theatre of Dreams, and United legend Patrice Evra recently urged the club to sign the player this year. Former Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) defender Godwin Okpara has now expressed his opinion on the matter. Osimhen advised to join United Speaking to Soccernet, Okpara insisted that Osimhen should move to United this summer. He said: “For me, I would prefer him to go to Manchester United.” “He has already played in Belgium, France and Italy. Now, what comes next? If he can’t go to Spain, why not England? Manchester United is the best place for him because he will enjoy his football there.” Okpara also claimed that Osimhen will be a good fit at Old Trafford, adding: “The way he plays will fit perfectly into the Manchester United team. It would be the ideal platform for him to showcase his talents. It would be lovely for him to sign for Manchester United.” Final Thoughts Osimhen is under contract with Galatasaray until 2029, so prising him away is likely to be a costly affair. However, the Nigerian has also missed 19 games through various injuries since arriving in Turkey, and United must consider their options carefully before making a move.
