United star in the form of his life now a major doubt for Sunderland game – report

Manchester United stars were all smiles after Sunday afternoon’s win over Liverpool. Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko and Kobbie Mainoo did the job for the Red Devils. However, amidst all the joy of completing a league double over arch-rivals Liverpool, United have a significant injury concern. Sesko may have suffered a knock to an existing injury after Ibrahima Konate shoved him off the pitch on Sunday. Benjamin Sesko a doubt for Sunderland game The Sun’s Samuel Luckhurst is now reporting: “Well-placed sources say Sesko’s injury was “quite painful” and he will be monitored over the coming days. United head to Sunderland for a Saturday 3pm kick-off.” Speaking after the game, caretaker head coach Michael Carrick confirmed that Sesko aggravated an injury he had been managing after colliding with the advertising board, and that was the reason he withdrew the striker at half-time. While there had been hope that the summer 2026 signing would be available for Sunderland, that now looks increasingly unlikely. Should Sesko miss out, it would undoubtedly deal a significant blow to United’s game plan. Sesko has been a massive hit since Amorim’s departure His goal against Liverpool continued a remarkable run. Since Ruben Amorim left United, no player in the Premier League has scored more than Sesko, who has netted nine in that spell. The Slovenian now has 11 Premier League goals in total, an impressive return for a young striker many tipped to flop at Old Trafford. With Champions League football secured and a third-place finish almost guaranteed, United can afford to rotate heavily and survive without Sesko. However, with Carrick keen to prove himself worthy of the role permanently, he cannot afford to take his foot off the gas. It would therefore be no surprise if he continues to field his strongest side, and if given the choice, the former United midfielder would start Sesko in every remaining game. The 22-year-old simply makes this team more dangerous. Featured image by Michael Regan/Getty Images The Peoples Person has been one of the world’s leading Man United news sites for over a decade.
