“Here we go”: Fabrizio Romano reveals United have verbally agreed new deal with English superstar

The future of Harry Maguire has continued to dominate headlines throughout the season, especially as his current deal ends in the summer. The former Manchester United skipper has been linked with an exit almost every season since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s departure. His inconsistent form on the pitch meant former manager Erik ten Hag tried to offload him to West Ham, but the Englishman refused to budge. There were murmurs that Ruben Amorim was open to selling him in January, with multiple Serie A sides chasing his signature. Harry Maguire has fought back admirably Caretaker head coach Michael Carrick blocked the centre-back’s exit and the 33-year-old has looked back to his best under the former midfielder. Following the vitriolic abuse he suffered for multiple years, most players would have cracked but not Harry Maguire. He has fought back and as revealed by Fabrizio Romano, he is all set to put pen-to-paper on a new deal at Old Trafford. The Peoples Person had relayed that United would be offering the former Leicester City star a short-term extension on reduced wages, and he has reportedly verbally agreed on terms. New deal agreed “𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄 𝐖𝐄 𝐆𝐎! Harry Maguire, set to sign 𝐍𝐄𝐖 𝐃𝐄𝐀𝐋 at Man United until 𝐉𝐔𝐍𝐄 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟕. Verbal agreement in place with Maguire and United set to put pen to paper before the end of the season. “The agreement will also include an option on club side to extend the contract until 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟖 – if United want,” Romano revealed on Instagram. This is great news for the club, who can now focus on bringing in multiple midfielders and left-wing options in the summer. Harry Maguire remains a potent force in both boxes and a leader par excellence, and having him in the squad will prove to be an astute decision in the months to come.
