Man Utd Could Miss Out As Rival Plots ‘Formal Bid’ For £50M Rated Tottenham Star

BACK David Tully Mar 25th 2026 Borussia Dortmund are hoping to beat Man Utd and other Premier League clubs to the signature of Tottenham midfielder Archie Gray if Spurs are relegated, according to reports. TEAMtalk claims that the 20-year-old won’t be short of suitors if his current club do drop down to the Championship. Dortmund are said to be positioning themselves at the front of the queue, and they are even lining up a “formal bid”. They reportedly see the England Under 21 international as a potential replacement for Julian Brandt, who is expected to leave Signal Iduna Park when his contract expires in June. Man Utd are among 3 Premier League clubs pursuing the player While Dortmund are doing all they can to persuade Gray into moving to Germany, he may still decide to remain in the Premier League if he does end up leaving Tottenham. The Red Devils are thought to be monitoring his situation, along with the likes of Chelsea and Aston Villa. TEAMtalk report that Spurs may consider offers of between £45m and £50m for Gray if they can’t avoid relegation. Gray’s versatility makes him a prized asset United have a number of midfielders on their radar, including Newcastle pair Bruno Guimaraes & Sandro Tonali, Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson, Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton and Brighton’s Carlos Baleba. If reports of Gray’s price tag are accurate, he would be cheaper than all of the club’s current midfield targets, and he has other strings to his bow as well. While he is ostensibly a holding midfield player, he has been regularly deployed as a defender over the past couple of years, playing as a centre-back, right-back and left-back. That positional flexibility makes him a great option to have in the first-team squad. Want more news on Man Utd?
